it's time to face the world
to act the part
paste a smile on my face
pretend that i don't have a damaged heart
they look me in the eye
but do they see
the person behind the lies
the real me
the one who's soul begs for love
to leave this place
no, they smile at me
seeing not a trace
of the one who is really in front of them
who only wants to be healed
to take this hurt away
to make this smile real
so to God i pray
that one day I am whole
not battling the demons
who fight over my soul
