"look at you" Kushina made eye contact with me through the mirror of her bathroom.
My hair was cut to a length of two or three inches longer than when I had left for the war two years ago. My jet black spikes sloped slightly to my right side.
"It looks great, thanks!" I told her.
I stood from the stool, tying my bandana around my head once more.
"I've got one more thing for you." Kushina giggled leaving the bathroom.
Kushina skipped back, a pendant in her hands.
"Congrats, Obito!" She held it up.
The pendant was a steel disk with both the Uchiha and Uzumaki clan crest engraved on it. Otherwise it was completely normal.
"When you're in trouble, run your chakra through it." Kushina smiled.
"What'll happen?"
"I want you to be surprised." Her grin deepened.
I felt a bit concerned about that, but she said to use it when in trouble so it couldn't be bad.
"I can't believe you're going on a date I feel like a proud mom"
I smirked.
I had never thought I'd be going on a date either. I had hoped for it, of course, though I had made zero progress toward that before the war. I had a tough time accepting that Rin pined for Kakashi, but there was no point in chasing her any further.
"So where are you going?" Minato asked from the living room.
"I dunno. Sarada planned it. But she did tell me not to over dress." I told him.
"Not like I ever had a lot of clothes anyway."
I stood in a dark blue dress shirt with orange cuffs and black, slim fitting jeans with bright blue sneakers with white treads.
"Well I'm glad that you're no longer hung up on Rin." He nodded approvingly.
"Me too." I sighed, a weight lifted from my chest.
My decision to accept Sarada's invitation was a hasty one, but as the day went on, I realized that it was the right one. Rin pined for Kakashi and there was nothing I could do to change it. On top of that, I couldn't deny what I was feeling for Sarada, especially after getting back.
I pulled out the phone she had bought for me. It was a black rectangle with a blue plastic casing, the leaf city crest printed on the back. By then, I had put all the numbers I could think to add after a day or two.
I had gotten them at my celebration. Kakashi, Rin, Kushina, Minato, Genma, Hayate, Izumo, Kotestu, Asuma, Kurenai, Guy, Ebisu for some reason and of course, Sarada.
I checked the series of text messages we've already exchanged. There wasn't much, given that we live together, but I focused on the last one she sent.
Ichiraku Ramen. 7:30
"Ichiraku ramen." I thought.
"Not my first pick for a date"
"But what the hell do I know about dates?" I shook my head in realization.
I looked to the top right of my screen. The time read
7:00
"I gotta go!!" I yelped.
"Have fun, Obito!" I heard them yell.
