TESSA GULPED AS THEY WALKED into a room with computers and screens, even more dead bodies and some gunshot could be seen on the computer screens and tables. they were clearly attacked.
"So they were watching us" Newt said "this whole time"
Tessa and Thomas looked down to a keypad to see a red button. Thomas hesitantly pushed it and a lady came on the screen
The blonde lady from Tessas dream
"Hello" she said "my name is doctor Ava Paige. I'm director of Operations of the World Catastrophe Killzone department" she said
She looked exactly as she didn't in Tessas head. The exact same hairstyle and everything.
"If your watching this that means you have successfully completed the maze Trials. I wish I could be there in person to congratulate you. But circumstances seem to have prevented it. I'm sure by now you all must be confused... angry, frightened" the women spoke
"I can only assure you that everything that's happened to you, everything we've done to you... it was all for a reason. You won't remember, but the sun has scorched our world , billions of lives lost to fire, famine, suffering on a global scale. The scale was unimaginable" the screen showed different pictures and videos of fire, dead bodies and the bright sun "What came after was worse."
The screen showed some sort of DNA. A brain covered in black stuff and a man screaming covered in black and purple veins, thrashing around as the doctors held him down "We called it the Flare. A deadly virus that attacks the brain. It is violent, unpredictable, incurable— or so we thought"
Ava Paige showed on the screen again "In time a new generation emerged that could survive the virus. Suddenly their was a reason to hope for a cure. But finding it would not be easy. The young would have to be tested, even sacrificed inside harsh environments, where their brain activity could be studied. All in effort to understand what makes them different. What makes you different." Tessa furrowed her eyebrows at the screen in confusion. "You may not realize it but you are very important" Ava said
"Unfortunately your trials have only just begun. As you will no doubt soon realize that not everyone agrees with out methods" Ava Paige pursed her lips as the doctors behind her panicked and ran around frantically and than people with guns came in
"Progress is slow, people's are scared. It may be to late for us— for me— but not for you. The outside world awaits. Remember..." Tessa let out a small gasp as Ava Paige held up a gun to her head
