The meowths internet presence timeline:
-meowth joins twitter
-begins posting fairly standard stuff, silly jokes, liveposting pikachu catching missions, complaining about jess and jim, gio thirst
-his followers build up until he has a sizeable audience. Its a snowball effect as the more followers he gains the faster he gains them. They all think his earnest tweets are piss funny, as is his bio ('furries/'omegaverse' fic writers dni'). He becomes something of a pukicho figure in their eyes, a cursed puppet account being run by a shitposting genius. Meowth has no idea and thinks they're all just earnest followers interested in his life
-a SHIT TON of his followers migrate to his twitch when he first promotes cos they think its hilarious but stick around because to them his ungodly long and straight faced streams are an admirably chaotic amount off effort for the 'puppeteer' behind the meowth accounts to put into a 'bit'. The only tell they have that it isnt just his puppeteers twitch with no connection to the 'joke accounts' is that he talks about the exact same shit in the exact same way. He loses quite a lot of engagement very quickly but a lot of people are still curious and keep tuning in. The remainers love the brooklyn. Throughout all of this meowth continues to remain blissfully unaware of how his followers view him
-james joins the fray when meowth gets popular enough he finds his social media. He begins to comment many of his posts and they start interacting. Meowths followers, who think the jimmy continuously mentioned was made up by this 'joke account', assume the mod behind meowths social media is also running james' and this is yet another moment of going chaotically far for the sake of the joke spurred on by the personas popularity. Jokes begin about the meowth extended universe. When will jessie show up? They spam giovanni, taking the piss and asking for confirmation of meowths existence and all get blocked cos of it spurring even more jokes. They ask james about being the mod. He thinks is hilarious and says that he is, james is merely a pseudonym and that meowth is his fursona roleplaying account that went in an unexpected but funny direction due to its reception. Meowth continues to be unaware of all of this
-things take a serious turn. After one too many people jokingly ask giovannis official twitter about meowths gio thirst posts, a news article is published about it. This joke is now mainstream, but most people dont have the comedic context- including giovanni. It gets picked up by larger news sources and he releases a public statement. The shane dawson cat tweet. Everyone collectively loses their shit in all different directions
-meowths followers are losing their mind laughing over this and trying to contact him. But when the world needed him most, he vanished. Despite the jokes, many note that giovanni responding to this implies meowth is in fact real. Soon voices start coming in through the silence, claiming to have genuinely seen a talking meowth in team rocket. Its not long till steven spielbunk (yes star, a canon character of the day), looking for the any relevancy, releases the footage. The world goes mad
-james is contacted asking for answers. He admits to his past responses being a joke and tells everyone the truth about him and meowth to clear his name including pictures and vids of them together as further proof (cos some people were doubting speilbunks footage). He loses followers for now being lame and a liar
-meowth finally returns to twitter with no leadup or announcement, tweeting only 'what Da Hell going on Lol' before disappearing for another 24 hours then returning for good, still with no idea about anything mentioned in this timeline
