The first practice of the year went by smoothly, at least that's what I think. The boy's worked hard, all of them had sweat dripping down their faces, and the smell...I don't even want to describe it. I was impressed with each individual boy's skills, but there's just something missing, their all very talented, but like Hinata, they've got a long way to go.
I went to go grab my bag a couple minutes before practice ended, since I would be going home a bit early today, mom wanted me to help out with dinner since she knew Daichi wouldn't be able to, so I agreed to help her. I slung my bag over my shoulder before hearing a loud howl behind me.
"Aww, is our new goddess already leaving us?" The voice of Tanaka whined.
I cringed at the name he called me as I whipped my whole body around to face him, "I'm not a goddess."
Tanaka gasped, clutching the spot where you would find his heart, "but it's true! You're just like Kiyoko, you have a beautiful face, gorgeous eyes, ah, everything about you is perfect!"
I sent him a disgusted look, I was never one to like hearing compliments such as the ones Tanaka was giving to me, "please stop. Go fawn over someone else, or learn how to properly speak to a girl without acting like a moron." I felt a tad bit guilty after saying that, it may have been a little harsh, but it had to be said.
Tanaka pouted, but he eventually forgot about what happened after the boy's resumed their practice. I rolled my eyes at him, he may be a weirdo but I could tolerate him for the remainder of the volleyball season. Before I left, I waved goodbye to Daichi and the rest of the boy's before heading out the door.
My house wasn't far from the school, so I usually walked home without any problems. Once I made it up to the front doorstep, I opened the front door and stepped inside my house. "Mom, I'm home!" I shouted, tossing my bag on the couch in the front room.
In a split second, my mom was standing by the couch, excitement twinkling in her eyes. I knew what was about to come, any moment now...three...two...one...
"How was your day, honey? Did you find your class? Did you make any friends? Was everyone nice to you? Do you have any homework? Did you-"
"Mom! Slow down! Gah, chill out, I can't answer them all at once!"
My mom sent me a guilty smile, "Sorry, I'm just curious to know how your first day went. You know me...I have to know everything that's going on in my precious daughter's life."
I shook my head teasingly, "it's alright. To answer your first question, my day went by really good, yes I found my class, yes I made some friends, everyone was nice to me, and no, I don't have any homework, it's the first day after all. Anymore questions?"
"No more questions. Well, since you don't have any homework, we can start making dinner straight away!" I nodded as I went to the sink and started washing my hands.
Once I finished washing my hands, we started cooking dinner. Before we had it all ready and cooked, Daichi had come back home from practice, looking all dirty and sweaty. I stopped was I was doing for a brief moment, and wen to go grab a towel for Daichi to wipe all his sweat off, "Looks like you'll need this. Please take a shower tonight, no one wants to be around you when you smell like this."
He snatched the towel out of my hands, wiping his face with it. "You know those first years from today?" Daichi asked out of the blue.
"Oh yeah, Hinata and Kageyama, right? What about them?"
"They both made a deal with me. We're playing a 3 on 3 match on Saturday with them both on the same team and the other two first years that applied as well on the other team. If they win then they can play, if they lose then Kageyama won't be the official setter, it'll still be Sugawara."
