Verona is the city of Romeo and Juliet.
City of love.
City of culture.
City of art.
City of Opera.

But it is known also as the city of fascism.

It is very easy for a child immigrant to get beaten up, to be teased at, to be treated like a thief and to be attacked with Mussolini words.

Only an immigrant would know this.

I had my school desk full of insults every day.

I had people staring at me badly whatever I did.

And I was so shy and so broken that I was closing myself inside my books and I couldn't bear to see people in the eyes.

When I was walking, I was looking at the floor, never in front of me, because I was scared and wanted to be invisible.

If they speak about religions, they look at you.
If they speak about terrorism, they look at you.
If they speak about thiefs, they look at you.

Every time there was a discussion, I knew I would be in the middle of it.

That's the fate of an immigrant child.
