(random) third person's pov :

"i know, ma... no, no! please don't worry about coming here. i can move in by myself." you chuckle softly, grabbing a box and staring at the flight of stairs in front of you

"uhm mom... i think i have to-oh fucking, god damn it. ok yes, i really have to go now. my box just decided to open up from the bottom and all of my pots and pans fell out." you mutter, bending down and picking up the pots and pans that clashed on the hard wood floor. "i'll call you later ok, ma? bye, love you."

sighing, you pick up the last pot that doesn't fit in the box and grab the tape that's sitting on the edge of the stairs, slapping it onto the box.

smiling, you pick up the box once again and walk up the flight up stairs until you stumble upon your supposed apartment.

"apartment thirty-three." you whisper softly, grabbing your key from your plaid jeans and inserting it into the key hole

"why in the hell is it open?" you question, opening up the wooden door slowly

"hello? i have pots and pans to hit you with if you're just planning to rob me!" you shout into the quiet apartment, walking around slowly and examining the interior design slowly

"why are there boxes already here?" you mutter, bending down and running your hands through the thick hoodies and joggers that sit in the cardboard box

suddenly, the sounds of water droplets running from a far distance catches your attention and you clutch even harder onto the pot you held loose before.

"ok, y/n. if there really is someone here, hit them on the head and just run. just fucking run! you got this. deep breaths... in and out." you whisper, sighing softly

"grayson, i'm in the fucking shower. call me one more time and you'll get a god damn pan to your head the next time i see you."

how ironic.

your eyes widen at the sound of the unfamiliar, deep voice that bounces off of the walls of the bathroom right in front of you.

"do people really shower with their doors open?" you ask yourself, pushing the door slightly and shutting your eyelids tightly

"listen here, fucker! this is my apartment and i don't know if you're a fucking robber who decided to take a shower but either way, this is not your place so get out!" you shout, still with your eyes closed tightly and your heart racing

"jesus, fuck! who-who are you? this is my apartment, lady. i've lived here for almost a year, i don't know what you're talking about." the unfamiliar voice responds

the running water comes to a halt all of a sudden, making you breath a sigh of relief and you push back a piece of your hair and tighten your grip onto the pan even harder this time.

"that is a sick joke that i don't appreciate. so, please just-just..." you motion the pot towards the door and hear soft patters against the floor, making small steps towards you

"d-don't come close to me! i'll smash this on your head, i mean it!" you threaten, waving around the pot still with your eyes shut closed

"you can open your eyes, sweetheart. i have a towel on."

you open your eyes slowly, taking a peek first with your right eye to see if it was safe and clear to look.

sighing deeply, you finally open your eyes and wrap both of your hands on the pot's handle and wave it in front of the stranger once again.

"aw, you're shy. you're blushing and shit. you can look down, you know. i'm not naked." he chuckles deeply, grabbing his deodorant from the cabinet behind you

"i-i refuse to look down." you mutter

he nods and applies the deodorant, no shame or embarrassment evident on his face.

"how are you so confident?" you ask in awe, slapping a hand against your mouth as those words spill from your lips

"stupid, stupid, stupid!" you mutter, slapping your forehead harshly

the stranger looks at you with narrowed eyebrows and you chuckle nervously, scratching your head as your eyes scan the interior of the bathroom.

"this really isn't my apartment, is it?" you ask nervously, now slowly bringing the pan down towards the side of your right leg

"mmmmm, no i don't think it is. unless, i have another surprise roommate no one told me about."

"i-i'm so sorry. oh, god. you're probably my neighbor and i just made the worst impression ever."

"it's cool. just glad you have manners and you didn't just bust into my bathroom."

"why would i ever do that?" you question, softly chuckling at his weird remark

"just something my brother would do. anyways, i'm ethan." he grins, bringing out his abnormally large hand

"you have huge hands-wait! uhm... that came out wrong, fuck-"

"it's cool." he chuckles, shaking his hand a bit to indicate to shake it

"o-oh, sorry. i'm y/n." you chuckle, reaching out your hand to meet his

"i'd make you some coffee or something but i'm in my towel and you're in my bathroom."

"i'm sorry! i should probably leave anyways, i made quite an impression."

sauntering towards the front door, your eyebrows furrow once again as your eyes land on the moving boxes that you found earlier.

"who's boxes are those, then? since you said you've lived here for about a year."

he stares at you with a squint and runs another towel through his wet curly, brunette hair. now wearing a grey shirt with black joggers.

"my brother's. he finally moved out of my parents so i told him he could move in with me. hopefully, i don't regret it."

you chuckle softly and nod, gripping the door with your shaky hands.

"i-i should probably, you know..." you point towards the door and chuckle awkwardly, making him laugh and drop his head. "ya, sure. see you later sweetheart." he smirks

your eyes widen at the nickname and you chuckle awkwardly once again, opening up the door with a harsh pull and running out of the door without looking back.
