Not everything is Planned

Chapter 4

Hotch offered for me to go back home for a little and I decided to do that. Two days later I started to pack my things with Henry by my side.

"Mommy, what are you doing?" He asked looking at me.

"I am packing. We're going back home. Dont know where we're going to stay.." I say honestly.

I finished packing and went downstairs to see Emily. Emily was on the couch watching tv.

"Hey Em." I say sitting next to her. Henry jumped right next to me.

"Hey, you leaving tomorrow?" She asked.

"Yeah.. I'll be back though." I say honestly.

"Who are you staying with?" She asked looking up at me.

"Um, I'm going to ask Spence, he loves Henry, so im hoping that he will let me stay." I say looking at Henry.

That night was rough. I feel like Emily has been distant from me sense Hotch came to drop Henry off. It was weird. I fells asleep with Henry next to me and I was happy that I had my son.

The next morning I woke up pretty early at 6:45 a.m. Henry was still sleeping so I got out of bed gently so I wouldn't wake him up. I walked downstairs to see Emily.

"Hey Em." I say making coffee.

"Hey Jen.." she looked up at me. "Whens your flight?

"Not until later." I stopped and looked at her. "Are you ok?"

"Yeah, just gonna miss you." She admits letting a tear slide down her face.

"You know, you can always come back too." I say hoping she says shes going to come back with Henry and I.

"Jen.. I would, but there is still a guy out here hunting people. I need to stay.." she says looking out the window.

After Emily said that I heard tiny footsteps running down the stairs. I turned around and Henry was right there.

"Mommy! Auntie Em!!" Henry yells running to us both giving us a hug.

"Hey sweaty. Hungry? Want some eggs?" I aksed. Henry shook his head yes and I went to go make some eggs.

While I was cooking the eggs I looked up and couldnt help notice that Emily was having so much fun with Henry, and Henry loves Emily so much.

"I love you Aunt Emily!" Henry says with his adorable voice.

"Awe, Henry. I love you too!" Emily says giving Henry a hug.

I could tell Emily loved Henry and it made me happy that maybe if we have a future together that Emily would be a great second mom to Henry. I finished cooking the eggs and walked over to them and handed them both a plate.

"Thank you mommy!" Henry said digging into the eggs.

"Thanks Jen." Emily said.

"You know Em, Henry loves you." I said honestly.

Emily just looked at me and smiled. I was hoping she would say something, but she didnt.

It was around 6:30 p.m and our flight was at 7:00 p.m I was hurrying to get my stuff ready so Henry and I wouldn't be late for our flight.

"Em, you know you can come with us.." I say again hoping she'll say yes.

"I'm sorry Jen, again I would, but i need to stay.." she says with almost tears in her eyes.

"Imma miss you auntie Em!" Henry yells giving Emily a big hug.

"Bye Em, bye, I love you." I say walking out of the door to my car.

When I got into my car I just realized what I said bye, i love you. It's fine, all bestfriends do it.. right..? Yes, it's fine. It not like I ment it in that way..

"Ready Henry?" I asked him from the front seat.

"Yup! All ready mommy!" He said with a big smile. "Mommy, where are we going to stay?"

"Um, we're going to go to uncle Spencer's house and see if we can stay there." I say focused on the road.

"Otay mommy, I'm excited!" Henry said kicking his feet.

In a couple of minutes, we were on the plane about to go home. Henry fell asleep for most of the flight, so that was good. I texted Emily before we took off, she didnt respond which was confusing because she always responded to my texts pretty fast. Jennifer, shes probably just working on the case, calm down. We got off of the plane after a few hours, it was a good flight.

"Where are we going now mommy!?" Henry asked grabbing my hand.

"We're are going to uncle Spencer's." I say unlocking the car.

"Yay!" Henry yells jumping into the car.

Spence lives about 30 minutes away from the airport, it took a little longer because we stopped at McDonalds for some late lunch. We got a Soencers at around 5:00 p.m

Knock knock

Spencer opened the door a few moments later.

"Oh, Jennifer?" He asked confused. "I thought you were working on a case?"

"Uncle Spence!!" Henry yelled running inside. I followed.

"Hey Spence, can Henry and I stay here for a little?" I asked nervously.

"Sure!" Spencer said rather quickly.

Henry and I got set up in the guest room. We made ourselves at home, sense Spensers felt like a third home to me (Emily's was my second home).
Spencer walked in a couple minutes later.

"Hey JJ, can we talk?" He asked. It looked kinda serious.

"Uh, sure." I say. "Henry, baby, can you please go play downstairs? Mommy will be down in a second."

Henry ran downstairs to play with his toys as Spencer began to talk.

"JJ, what's going on? Like why are you here? Dont get me wrong, I love having you here, but what's wrong?"

"Spence.. it's to soon. Can I tell you later?" I asked heading to the door.

"Ok Jen, but please talk to me.." he says giving me a hug. 

I walked downstairs to see Henry, he was sitting on the couch playing with his cars.
