Part 8

I walked back into my dorm after lunch, scanning the snug, plant filled room. I spotted my Quidditch uniform on a chair and my eyes widened, I could not be late for Quidditch! We were playing Slytherin that afternoon and I had boasted to Draco that we were going to win. Oh no. Emily wasn't there, so I ran into the bathroom to get ready. I got changed and braided my hair into two dutch plaits.

I then fed Monty and grabbed my broom, running out to the Quidditch field to join the Hufflepuff team with a relieved smile.

"Late again Kas?" Cedric said, he had been chosen for the team Captain that year and had a lot of fun bragging about it.

I rolled my eyes, spotting the green uniforms of the Slytherin team across the field, I could already see Draco's blonde hair amidst the players.

Cedric gestured with his hand and we all followed, walking across to the team. I stayed at the back, I was the youngest in the team so easily hidden. Marcus (the Slytherin team captain) smirked, revealing his wonky teeth. The audience began to file into the stands around the pitch, chattering and grinning with excitement.

"Hello Diggory." Marcus sneered.

"Flint." Cedric said, his eyes glaring coldly at the Slytherin.

"Who's your seeker this year then?" He asked, re-gripping the black broom in his hand.

"Same as last year, Kassie."

"Of course you let your little sister onto the team, how sweet, I bet she can't even play."

"Shut it Marcus, Kassie made it onto the team for her talent." Cedric spat, his protective brotherness appearing.

"I don't see her." One of the other Slytherin's said. The team around me stepped to the side and I walked forward, standing next to my brother.

"Well I must say you look alike, is she a loser like you too?" Marcus sneered.

"I told you to shut it." Cedric said coldly. I met Draco's eyes, he was stood apart from the rest of the team, he looked away.

"What are you looking at?" Flint asked menacingly, he followed my gaze to Draco, then scoffed, "of course, you two know each other don't you? I wondered why he was so quiet, come on Seeker, you can get the snitch, push her off her broom if you have to, won't be hard." The rest of the team sniggered, but Draco didn't look up.

Cedric opened his mouth to argue back but a horn sounded, signalling the players to get into position. I kicked off the ground first, scanning the dark clouds above, a droplet of rain dripped onto my face. The wind was strong and my bright yellow robes blew behind me, very visible in the wintry afternoon.

The others followed and Cedric flew near me.

"Be careful Kas, they're going to try and hurt you, don't get the snitch if it's risky." He warned, then flew to his position; the horn sounded again, the match had begun.

I flew up, searching for the snitch, my head moving rapidly from side to side. An hour into the game it was 50:60 to Slytherin, I groaned. The rain had grown even thicker, my robes and hair were soaked and I was already shivering, my wand was still in my dorm. Draco was across from me, watching the game intently.

"Wet, Dragon?" I yelled, his hair was a slightly darker shade of blonde than normal, he kept wiping his eyes to get the water out.

"You look worse!" He yelled back, smirking even then.

"I'm fine actually, as long as one of your teammates doesn't knock me out with a bludger."

"Fair enough, we're winning ha!" He said, smiling gleefully. I couldn't help but smile too.
