Talent in acting, a skill both avery and peter had
Peter, the group nerd was engulfed by his new group, he started acting tough and does dangerous stuff
Avery also changed bit by bit, from being very open and happy she became distant and calm
A competition was held, class representatives were the two of course. They practiced every break time, she showed her how she acted
The part they had to act was sad, she thought it would be good to shred some tears here and there
He couldn't cry, not infront of everyone!
His performance was amazing, his voice was full of emotions but he couldn't show his facial expressions changing
Her performance was fantastic the judges even said it looked natural
None of them won, they lost to a 10th grader.
Peter was done acting, he wanted to be one of the cool guys!
"Hey, peter?" Avery said walking closer
"Hm?" Peter asked not removing his gaze from a college math book
"Wanna hang out some time?" She asked
"Look, i'm done acting like i am your friend!" He raised his voice closing his bool and looking at her
"I only did this because grades are on the line okay?" He continued not caring if she has a hurt glaze

The boy starts to walk away till she speaks
"Perhaps joining these will increase your grades" she said in a quiet tone
"maybe people like me shouldn't be with people like you." She continued as he turned back
"Did you even know how much i prepared for this, taught you how to act properly and lost?" She started to raise her voice
"I lost a competition i loved doing, hoping that i would gain a friend." She looks at him dissapointed
"Turns out i lost you to them along the way of trying to change me to fit you" avery changed her attitude, her style, just so she could help him, because she saw her as a cool guy she would want to be friends with but along the away, along the year she took to change, he did too, he changed so people would like him more, not even bothering to look at lorcan and avery, the people who wants to be friends with him
"I'm sorry" he tried, he really did
"Talk to me when you are done being controlled by popularity" avery smiled apologetically as she turned away
Oh how much will it cost to stop acting like her friend but be an actual one
