AZLYN'S POV

Bou let out the whole story as he sat next to my best friend, his larger hand enveloping hers. A tear falls down her cheek and I know she could hear. I tap Bou's shoulder and point at her cheek. His voice rises up and he shouts at her to wake up. Pretty soon, he lost it and the doctors had to drag him out. I took one last look at her fragile body laying there in peace.

"Please wake up soon, Shanaya. We miss you." I whisper before stepping out into the hallway and placing my hand on the door that opens to the waiting room. I couldn't even open the door before falling down into a ball. The tears just kept flowing never ending. Why does life have to keep messing up our lives?

This is all because of one woman's mistake? I felt strong arms pull me up gently before picking me up and cradling me against a hard chest. The scent of fresh laundry coming in as I take in a deep breath. I had too many broken pieces inside of me. I could never be cared for. Even my mother abandoned me. Yes, Azlyn Cooper's mother is not with her. Surprise, surprise. Even the gangster's daughter has two normal parents.

"Hey!" I lift up my head and look sheepishly up at my friend, "Sorry was I talking out loud?"

"Yes!" She exclaims and I smile apologetically at her before turning to the confused boys, "Guess I have to explain, huh?"

"Yes."

"You don't have to."

"I don't care." Came the responses and you can guess where each came from.

"It's okay, Hussain, I'll tell you guys." I smile and carefully distangle myself from him, placing my self on the chair next to him.

"So... My father has not had a stable wife since my mom left us. He is on his sixth wife in ten years. Though, I don't think that'll last long either. My mom left us because she couldn't handle a step daughter and two of her own flesh and blood. I have another sibling, but we don't talk about him much. My mother is basically.. A slut. I'm just gonna say the truth. There is no way to sugar coat it. Funny that the mayor's wife turned out to be one. But then again the most powerful families in our town have the worst life stories. Take Nyah for example, she is the daughter of a former CIA agent, now turned into one of the biggest gang leader in America. Her family is just full of surprises, but I'll leave that to her to explain." I sigh and shrug at the end.

Hussain clears his throat, "I sort of don't want to meet my mom now. I mean she's the reason we are in this complicated mess."

"WAIT!" My eyes pop open at his mention of the little guy. Shit, we didn't make it on time! I open my phone and see a text message from an unknown number.

Guess you guys had an obstacle in your pathway. And even more people on your side? Lovely! Well let's just all have a family reunion! Monday night at the club where you met Bou. I'll be waiting!

"Dammit." I curse as Hussain reads the message out loud.

"Who is Bou?" We snap our heads up to the nervous doctor and Bou stands up, "I am."

"Uhm she won't let us do our procedure unless you are in the room." The doctor shakily explains.

"Wait, she's up?" Tyler asks in hope and the doctor nods, "Yes, she is waiting for him."

Bou nods and follows the doctor to her room. Nyah goes to follow, but Tyler grabs her arm and shakes his head, "Let them talk it out, teddy bear."

"Teddy bear? What do I look like? A toy?" Nyah snaps and Tyler rolls his eyes at her, "No, it's a word of endearment, smart ass."

"Hey, watch your French!" She growls and he raises his hands in surrender, "Sorry, didn't know you were a goody two shoes!"

I snicker as they bicker and Hussain taps my shoulder, "Can we talk?"
