Chapter Six: Rebuild

I walked very slowly up to the common room, because I had an idea. As I had hoped, by the time I got there, what looked like the last students were filing out with their trunks. I went and gathered my things slowly, making sure nobody was in the common room but me, and then went over to the boys dorms. I knocked on the door, then poked my head in. No one was in the room. I walked in and found the only bed that wasn't bare. To make sure this was his bed, I picked up a piece of parchment from the table, unfolded it, and saw Draco's handwriting. I reached underneath the bed and got his trunk out. All of his clothes were already in there: it looked like he'd been expecting the battle. I carefully placed the items from his table in the trunk: a few unopened chocolate frogs, a few pieces of parchment, and his old Prefect pin. Then when everything was in the trunk, I took a piece of parchment back out, and fished a pen out of the bottom of the trunk. I unfolded the parchment on the table and wrote:

Draco, I got your things for you. I'll most likely be at home if you wanna come by and get it. I hope to see you soon.

Love, Tori

I left the letter on his bed, halfway hidden under a pillow. Then I shrunk Draco's trunk down small enough that it would fit inside mine, and walked out of the common rooms.

As I got back down to the Great Hall, everyone was leaving. I quickly found Blaise, who was walking alone.

"What are we doing?" I asked as we entered the courtyard.

"Well, we can't continue classes with all this going on," Blaise gestured to the debris around us.

"True," I said.

We walked out to the carriage, and I smiled at the Thestrals. I noticed that so many people were gasping in awe at them now; they had witnessed a death. But I had always been able to see them, they were no surprise to me.

Blaise turned to me.

"Do you see that?" Blaise asked me in amazement.

"I've always been able to," I replied nonchalantly.

Blaise looked at me.

"Really?" he asked, his face sympathetic.

"Oh, don't pity me, get in," I said, so I wouldn't start tearing up, and practically shoved Blaise into the last carriage.

We were the last two in the back of the crowd, so we were the only ones in the carriage.

There was silence for a while. Then Blaise spoke.

"I saw you earlier. Over by the twins, last night, but I didn't say anything. I knew you were really upset, I was afraid I'd say the wrong thing. I'm sorry I never did. You didn't have anyone."

I didn't speak for a while.

"It's alright, Blaise."

"I understand if you're cross."

"I'm not. I probably needed some alone time anyway. But thank you, for coming up to me earlier."

"No problem," Blaise smiled.

Both of us were silent the rest of the ride.

When we got off the carriages at the Hogsmeade station, I told Blaise to save me a seat on the train and walked ahead. I had to find someone.

I found Seamus Finnigan walking among Ron Weasley, Hermione Granger. Dean Thomas, and of course, Harry Potter.

I cleared my throat.

"Seamus?"

They all turned. Great.

"Can I, uh, talk to you for just a minute?" I asked shyly.
