"That was slapping as usual Mo." I said finishing up my wine
"You know how I do, don't act like you forgot." She said with a smirk
"You better start coming more."
"I've been busy, and it takes a lot to get out here.'
"If you would take your damn car out of my driveway, you wouldn't have to worry about getting around."
"Cane bought that car not me."
"Well can I drive it?" Diana asked laying her head on my shoulder
"So, you can kill people with your no driving ass?" Dru said and I laughed
"Shut up I'm a good driver!"
"Tell that Ms. Joyce's dog." I said and she pushed me a little as we laughed at her.
On her very first driving lesson with me and Dru, he kept messing with her yelling stop and go and she accidently hit the neighbor's dog and broke its leg. Monet was pissed that she had to pay for everything, Dru still got a laugh out of it to this day.
"That was not my fault! Dru kept yelling at me."
"You still supposed to keep your eyes on the road that was the point." He told her and I rolled my eye because we all knew he was lying.
After dinner Mo told Dru and Diana to clean up while we talked in the living room
"So, what's up? Your phone don't work no more?" She asked
"I've just been busy, I'm in my final stretch for school."
"And you got a new man." She added and I shook my head I don't know why I try to hide anything from her
"It's nothing serious just getting my feet wet." I said and she laughed a little
"You had two years and you picked a few weeks before Cane comes home?"
"Man nobody expected him to get out on no good behavior." I said with a smile
"That's for damn sure, but you know that boy don't listen to nobody but Lorenzo." She said and I nodded
"You look tired you've been sleeping?"
"I'm good Mo, you know me I'm a fighter."
"Even the toughest fighters need a rest sometimes. You need money?"
"No, I can barely afford my student loans, the last thing I need is another loan."
"Loan? Girl please you know you're one of my badass kids, how much do you need?"
"I'm good- "
"Lie to me again and I'm going to pop you."
"My dad called a few weeks ago and told me he was in danger of losing the house, so I took care of it."
"That motherfucker I just saw his bum ass yesterday. Wait until I catch his ass, I'm going to deal with him."
"Don't sweat it, it's fine Mo."
"No, it's not you got your own shit to deal with, he should be helping you out he's the damn parent."
"I know I just can't have him lose that house."
"You need to let that go, it's just a house the memories stay with you. All family ain't blood remember that."
"I hear you."
"How much do you need?"
"Dru gave me some money before we came."
"I'm give you a little more before you leave." She said and I opened my mouth to argue but she raised her hand, so I sat back and closed my mouth
