One white candle. One red candle. One black candle. My hand shook as I took my lighter out of one of the kitchen drawers. Going back to the kitchen table, I leaned over it, slowly lighting each of them. "I wish for my mind to be read only by me," I whispered it over and over whilst lighting the candles.
Shaking harder, I held the sage leaf down on the table, writing the wish down. I wish for my mind to be read only by me. Inhaling, I continued to whisper. Holding the sage leaf over each of the flames, I found it caught fire as well as spread quickly. Once I finished holding it over each candle, I threw it down into the bowl. Taking a breath, I blew out each of the candles individually.
'Ennard?' I thought, no response.
Inhaling hesitantly, I looked at the ceiling. He has to be messing with me. There was no way this had actually worked.. 'Ennard?' I took a breath, looking towards the sage leaf.
Ennard and I had found out the hard way that when one of us felt pain, the other most likely felt a similar one. Walking slowly over to the still burning leaf, I gazed over it. Still, no talking. No laughter. No warnings. No 'Don't you dare.' I took a breath, placing my finger on the flame and quickly removing it. I let out a sharp scream, wincing and running over to the sink where I held my finger under the tap.
Tears pricked my eyes, but still, I smiled. I was free.
After a few minutes, I shook my hand. Noticing a blister had already formed on the tip of my finger. Sighing softly, I turned the tap out. Walking through the house once more, checking through every room. "Ennard?" I whispered, part of me still didn't believe he was really gone from my mind.
He'll be coming back here, looking for me. Taking a deep breath, I left the house. I opened the front door, barely paying attention, I immediately bumped into a tall boy with dark brown hair and hazel eyes. Striking hazel eyes. "Sorry-" he cut me off, grabbing my wrist.
"Did it work?" his tone was rushed, worried.
Dark. I nodded immediately, smiling brightly, "Y-Yeah!"
"Y/u/n?" he asked hesitantly, making sure he had grabbed the right person, "Right?"
I nodded quickly, "Yeah, yeah. And, I'm assuming you're Darkest_Wind21?"
"Correct," he laughed nervously, giving my wrist back to me, "Now let's go before your killer robot realizes this stuff isn't just in your imagination."
I nodded quickly, agreeing as he pulled me over and into his car. His keys were already in the ignition and the engine was running smoothly. He reversed out of the parking lot and I leaned back in the passenger seat. Tears ran down my face as I closed my eyes. I felt a huge weight lift from my shoulders as we left, and yet, I still couldn't help but feel.. Disappointed?
"What's wrong?" he glanced over to me, then back to the street.
"I just," my voice broke, "I just can't believe he's gone. I'm free."
He smiled, nodding. "Yeah.." his voice trailed off, eyes widening in a sudden realization, "I don't think we ever exchanged names."
"Er-" he was right, "Y/n is my name. Yours?"
"Darnel," he smirked, trying out a joke, "Do you say er as much as you type it?"
I laughed, shrugging, "Not sure, no-one has ever pointed it out."
He laughed as I closed my eyes. A gentle smile lighting my face as I wiped my eyes off with the sleeve of my sweater. Immediately wincing when my finger rubbed against the fabric. Noticing, he looked over for a mere second, "Are you okay?"
