something wasn't sitting right-
it caused tae to wake up in a cold sweat, the midst of the morning, he sat on the balcony of his hotel room chain smoking cigarettes as he pondered what could be eating at this heart so much.
jin noticed the younger, tucked in his robe, visibly distressed, as squished his figure onto the chair.
"what's going on?" the older stepped onto the balcony, his rich, black hair in tangles, strands in desperate need of a shower.
"i don't think i can go back home! i can't leave here." a stale, trail of smoke flared from his nostrils.
"what's so enticing about here?"
"you wouldn't get it."
"try me." jin plopped down in the chair next to him, gently brushing ash and debris into a pile for easier clean up- plus, he was nervous about the answer.
"if i go home, i'll have to get married and have kids and just make the same old thing and that's all i'll ever be." his palms were sweaty, narrowed eyes as he watched the city scape start to illuminate with daylight, "but here i just feel... happy. do you know what that's like?"
"happiness?"
"genuine happiness!" he corrected.
"i suppose i don't."
"well i hope you're lucky enough to experience it someday." taehyung nervously cracked his knuckles, "when i took off the other day, jungkook and i fled town and we just made love and got high and envisioned what we'd do if we could just go back in time."
his eyes sparkled as he remembered just hours ago, "and last night i had dinner with his family, danced with his nephew and his sister, and we just laughed and it was so easy. we bickered but even that, felt easy because we just moved on!"
"when nari and i fight it's like a different world- it is vicious and vengeful. So malicious. It's like we truly hate one another, you know?"
"what are you going to do? your mother would never let you run off with some boy. especially a boy who isn't even... well he's not... from money or the design world or anything?"
taehyung took another drag of his cigarette, "I know..."
they sat in silence, the spring wind wrapping them up, the scent of ovens starting up, cooking mounds of food for millions who would come through that day. it felt reminiscent of home but still so different, so much more lively, progressive, and freeing.
if tae could sit on that balcony all day, he would. hell, all week.
unfortunately for him, the moment was broken by screams erupting from inside the hotel room, the cracked french doors barely blocked what could only be assumed was nari losing her mind from inside.
taehyung moved quickly, in a panic he found her on the floor of the bedroom, blood soaking the sheets and her as she sobbed into her stained hands.
his body fell to the floor next to her, the whole moment seemed like a blur, "jin, call an ambulance!" his arms wrapped around her, pulling her to his chest, "what happened, where is all this blood coming from?"
"i- i don't know!" she looked horrified, wide brunette eyes as she stared at what was unfolding in disbelief, "what's happening to me?" her voice was a whisper as she tried to wipe each drop away which in turn only made it worse.
his mother appeared at the doorway, awoken by the blood curdling screams, she quickly swung into action upon seeing the sight in front of her, "jesus christ, what is going on?" she slipped her silk robe off, wrapping it around the shaking girl and picking her up from the floor.
