XVIII

A few weeks later,
Zee's P.O.V
It was a day off since today is the weekend, so I did not have to go to the office. So, I decided to spend my free time with Saint. Now, I am talking with him on the phone.
"What do you think about it, Saint?" I asked.
"Well. Is not like Saint doesn't want to go, but I still need to take care of my cafe, P'" he said.
"I already told you, you don't have to work so hard. I just don't want you to get tired, " I said.
"I understand that, but I am not that rich, " He said.
"But, I want you to come with me to Pattaya. It's only four nights, five days. Come with me, naa???" I asked.
"P'Zeee~~~~" Saint whined from the other side of the phone.

At that moment, I heard a series of knock on the door.
"Saint, I will call you back later, " I said.
"Okay, P'" Saint said.
Then, I finished the phone call and placed my phone on my bed.

"Yes, come in?" I answered. With that, Meng, who is my father's secretary, came in.
"What brings you here?" I asked.
"Khun Panich is calling you. Okay, I will come down in a moment, " I said. With that, he left my room while I followed him behind.

When I arrived in front of my dad's home office, I knocked on the door. Then, I went in.
"Dad, did you call me ?" I asked as I sat on the armchair.
"Zee, I want you to attend one of a meeting for me in the Philippines, can you do that?" he asked.
"What is that about, dad?" I asked.
"Just a negotiation with Crown's Hotel, " he replied.
"When will I have to go?" I asked.
"Tomorrow, it would take about a month, though, " he said.
"Why is that long?  Isn't it just about negotiation?"  I asked.
"Well, yeah. But, I want you to discuss it thoroughly, " he said.
"May I declined about it?" I asked.
"Why? You usually do everything I ask you to do, " My dad said.
"Nothing. I just don't want to be there for that long, " I said.
"A month is long? See, you have been to many other countries on behalf of me while you were in America. So far, I have remembered some of them even take about a year. But you never decline them, but why this time?" he asked.

He's right when I was doing my internship in the America branch. There are a few business trips in other countries which take about a year. All of them are appointed by him.

"That's because I need to take care of the hotel here. As you know, Khun Mae told me to plan for the year ending party, too, " I said.
" About that, I can talk to your mae and let someone from the hotel handle it. Maybe, your secretary Leng could do it for you if I request him to do it, " He said.
"But, I want..." before I finished speaking.
"Is that because you are dating someone right now? Is that why you don't want to go and to give me all those lame excuses, huh, Zee?" he asked.
"No, dad. I just don't feel like..." again, he cut off my lines.
"Zee! I am your father, and I knew exactly what you are doing out there, " he passed. "Just because I did not tell you anything, you don't conclude that I don't know anything about you, Zee, " He said while raising his voice a little.
"Dad, I did everything you asked me. Just this time, can you listen to my request, huh?" I asked while showing my puppy eyes. I was hoping that he would become soft toward me and withdrew his request. But, it did not happen.
"You're dating someone, right, Zee?" He asked.

I avoided his eyes and looked at the blank space.
"Zee, I'm asking you!" He said.
"Yes, I am. So, can I don't go? I want to go on a vacation with that person, " I demanded.
"Bring her to us. We would like to meet the person who you're dating, " he said.

I gulped down on my saliva; that's because that is something I can't do at all cost. If he found out that I am dating a guy, then he would kill me. It's okay if he kills me. What if he did something terrible to Saint?

"Mr.Zee Pruk~~~~" my dad called.
"Krub?"
"Huh? I am asking you to bring the person you are dating here; why are you zoning out?" he asked.
"Urm, the uh..." I was lost for words and excuses.
"What? Is it because you're dating a guy? Is that why?" he asked.
"H-H-" That surprised me a lot. I did not know that he already knew that I am dating a guy, but how can he act this calm? I mean, how?
"Just bring him to me. Yes, I hate homosexuality but let me meet with him, okay?" he paused, then he got up from his chair walked towards me. I already tensed up with his calmness. That's because so far, I remember he is a member of the anti-homosexual.  But why is he this calm?

"Son, look. You might think that I am anti-LGBT. That's true. I hate them. But, you are my son, and I wanted you to be happy with your life. I promised that I wouldn't hurt your boyfriend, just invite him to our house. I wish to meet and just have a talk. I am sure the guy who you are dating is a very wise and smart boy.  You got my words; I don't mean any harm to him. Just bring him to our mansion, Zee, " he said while patting on my shoulder.

I got up from the seat and looked at him unbelievably. "Dad, are you sure that you won't hurt him?" I asked.
"Of course. I am a man with my words. So, what did you say?" he asked while winking at me.
"Dad...." I called.
"I know that you thought I am weird, right now. But, I knew everything, Pruk Panich what I mean by everything. I am sure you already knew what I mean by that, right?" he asked.

'God, so he already knew it for a long time?' I thought.

"Son? Did you become a statue? " he joked.

That's the very first time that my dad is joking with me and smiling at me. Usually, he tends to be very cold and heartless toward me. That's what I think.

"Zee, I know that I have never gone easy on you, and you were scared of me. Of course, I have to. That's because I want to become a very successful businessman just like me. So, I can transfer all my business under your name. That's the reason why I act so cold toward me. Son, listen. In this world, there are no parents that hate their children and directing them in the wrong direction. They were just concerned about their children's future. That's why I went too hard on you. Now, you're already 27 and going to be 28 soon. So, I am sure that you can differentiate between bad and good by yourself. Bring Saint to us, okay?" he asked as he pulled me into a hug.
"Dad, how long have you been spying on me? Wow, I think I am a real clumzee boy, " I whispered as I hugged him back.
" You finally realized what I am capable of, right? If I hate your relationship with him. Why would I let you be at ease? I would have already caused much trouble to him and his family. But I didn't do it, right? So, tell me when you can bring him to us? " he asked.
"Us? You mean Khun Mae already known about it?" I asked.
"Of course. See? We are very chill and open-minded, " he said.
"Thanks, dad, for accepting me for who I am, " I said as happy tears fall from my eyes.
"Zee, you are not a child anymore. Oh my, I don't understand how did you manage to lead in your relationship with him. So far, I know Saint is six years younger than you, right?" he asked. I pulled myself away from him.
"Dad, your stalking skills are on a whole new level, " I said.
"That's because you didn't tell me anything about him, so I have to find my way through, " he said. Then, we both laughed at his statement.
