Part 21: Something Inside (Part 2)

Mary took her hands out of Dawne's and touched Dawne's stomach. It is already in you. The child that will unite both us and the wolves. Child! Dawne couldn't possibly fathom what Mary was saying. I couldn't possibly be pregnant with Ezra's baby. It's only been three times that we've been together and only once where Ezra had the little "accident", while still inside me. Was that enough to make me pregnant?, she thought to herself.

Mary's face grew darker as she continued her reading. "There is a dark force... the same dark force that pursued your mother for her powers that wants to own you for itself. It doesn't want this to happen. Your relationship with Ezra, because when you're sad and alone...in grief...then it becomes stronger and has a better chance to get you. It doesn't want you to love and be happy"... Mary's words chilled Dawne to the bone, and she remembered her dreams of the dark, hooded figure trying to consume her". What did Mary mean with it also pursued her mother? She grew afraid, because her mother died in such a mysterious, unnatural way. Perhaps this  force had something to do with it... "there are also dark covens who stand far more to benefit from having enmity with the wolves than by being united with them...they won't be pleased to see what your child stands to do".

"Remember, there is far little more powerful a force of light than love...love is stronger than fire and death", Mary continued... "use this force to protect your loved ones from harm. Channel your magic through your love and its power will be magnified..." and she ended her reading on that cryptic message.
Dawne didn't really understand what she means, there was just way too much information for her to even begin processing. Child? Dark force? Dark magic covens?

"What am I going to do to help Ezra... Am I just supposed to stand back and let him die and pay for protecting me?!"
Cordelia spoke up first saying that she will do everything in her power to help Dawne help Ezra, and all the witches followed suit...pledging their support for Dawne's cause to save him.
She turned to Mary, "Am I really going to have his baby?", to which Mary replied "the baby is already formed. It's already your fate and it's alive inside you. You are going to be the mother of a powerful hybrid the likes of which we've all never yet seen before..."
This was too much to drink in! She just lost her virginity to Ezra, and on top of it she had the responsibility coming to her of motherhood. How was Ezra going to take it?

"The coven and I will go ask the Old Ones the best solution for your situation. Don't worry about anything. Stay calm. It's not just about you and Ezra, it's for the little one inside you too...It's bigger than the both of you. We'll take care of it and let you know soon what the next steps to be taken are..." Dawne felt a bit more assured by Mary's response, but she still had so many unanswered questions. For instance, what about the dark force that is after her and her mother's death? She was way too tired mentally to bring up all of that. It was enough of a shocker to hear she's going to have a baby and she has to first make sure Ezra is okay. If she was indeed pregnant... her baby would need his or her father alive and well first and foremost...
