Don't know where the time went
Stuck in the wrong mindset
And I let the rules bend
When I know that all along they're made to break
Hey, you got me searching for reasons
To keep me from leaving
And that I have trouble breathing
I give myself another chance to stay

Hold me close and I won't leave
'Cause it hurts when you hurt somebody
So much to say but I don't speak
And I hate that I let you stop me
'Cause it hurts when you hurt somebody

One day before you know it, you will see
All of the pain and all the irony
You'll feel the stinging and you think of me
'Cause it hurts when you hurt.

NEW YORK, U.S.A

"Ya Allah." I muttered and crashed on my bed. I have been in the states for 5 days now and all I do is, get up from bed, eat breakfast, leave my apartment for a little sight seeing and getting to know the town since it's going to be my home from now on, well, until I am done with my PhD.

Today I went for grocery shopping and I bought a lot of food stuffs and also some things just to make my 3 bedroom apartment feel comfy and homey.

Tomorrow I will be going to my school to make some inquiries and I will also have a little tour of the school just to know a bit of my way around.

I wore my pajamas and Manal's call came through. "Hey bitch." She called.

"Fool, what's up." I replied.

"Nothing much, how about you, how are you holding up with the weather and the new environment." I sighed.

"Well, am trying my best, I just miss home." I pouted. "Come back home." I sighed.

"You know I can't " I replied. "Yes you can, you just don't want to." I brushed my hair back and groaned.

"Manallll....I don't want to have this conversation." She hissed and I heard ruffling sounds at the background.

"So what are you doing for your birthday?" I am glad she changed the topic.

"Nothing special at all."

"Why?"

"I don't feel like celebrating it this year." She let out a sigh and added an okay.

"If you say so." I nodded and we continued to talk about relevant and irrelevant stuffs until she ended the call to go attend to her husband's needs.
