More than twenty thousand years ago, there was an earl and countess who survived what they called the "Black Death" on old Earth. To the modern Imperium, they were nothing more than a datapoint in the ancient record, but the past has a way of resurfacing through the Bene Gesserit's millennia-old Missionaria Protectiva.
On the planet Arrakis, these two souls find themselves reborn into a conflict they do not yet understand. Maeb, the daughter of the late Duke Leto of House Atreides, and Raife, a smuggler navigating the lawless reaches of the spice trade, are haunted by echoes of another timeline. When a lethal, sulfurous variant of the plague begins to rot the very spice that keeps intergalactic travel alive, the ancient memories our heroes share become a biological map to achieve normality again.

This book takes place in the world of Dune by Frank Herbert. The main characters, flashbacks, and ideas are loosely tied to The Devil's Diadem by Sara Douglass. Please keep in mind that I have only read up to Dune Messiah and watched the two Villenueve films.
This is a work of fan fiction for entertainment purposes only.
Note: I am sorry if this story is very confusing! The source material is rather information-dense, and I sometimes have issues understanding the writing of Dune as well. I love Herbert's work though, and am open to suggestions to make my writing better.
