In one universe, Vera, a brash commander of soldiers, seems to face a problem when her life long friend, Julian, asks for her help. His sister, Abigail, is dying and he needs her help to discover a cure for Abigail's mysteriously obtained illness. After hours of research together, they have a potential antidote but it's a stretch. It is not guaranteed to work, not to mention it may not even truly exist. With a leap of faith, Vera and Julian set off on a brutally dangerous adventure they are not likely to survive, but Vera's intentions may not be as pure as she wants Julian to believe. In another reality, Vera and Julian have to overcome their own set of hardships. The usual high school drama never seems to leave them. But when Vera begins learning more about Julian's troubled past and family life, she doesn't seem to know what she needs to do. Most frightening of all, she doesn't seem to really care for the repercussions her questionable actions may have on her closest friend. While both universes are completely separate from one another, the purpose of including fantasy and real world universes is to draw parallels between the two; not everyone seems to believe that real life could be so exciting or have so many ripple effects.
