A Mafia story.
I didn't know what possessed me to hold a gun, but I found myself and Kristian smack dab in the middle of a deadly gunfight set in sea. As I felt multiple eyes and weapons trained on us both, I forced my grip to stay still, fingers taut and poised, ready to aim.
Kristian's impossibly-deep feline eyes sweep over my drenched, trembling form, as if he was amused with my pathetic attempt to put up a fight. The curves of his lips tilt upwards in a sad, bitter smirk. "It's alright, Kass, calm down. I'm not afraid of the ocean.I'm not afraid of them." What was he saying now? We had to do something-
"One thing's for sure: I'm afraid of what you do to me." he whispered to me, fragile words getting lost in the harsh, whipping wind as he pushed me into the lifeboat.
The wind knocked out of my chest, my body froze at the unexpected motion. Trying to gain my breath, I gripped the sides of the boat. 'Kristian, what-"
I felt the whole world freeze, my frantic heartbeats slowing down into a steady echo in my ears.
Turning around with a deftness I had never seen before, he gave me no chance to speak before he jumped towards the ocean.
I instinctively looked down onto the ring he had gave me before he left; when I realized what he had done, my mouth contorted into an ear-splitting scream.
