I looked up from my book as the boy returned from the restroom and made his way back to his seat, his gaze turned to me and his eyes locked with my own and I felt unable to pull away. His eyes were wide as they looked at me with a mixture of expressions I couldn't quite find the right word for. I took the time to take in his appearance. His shoulders were impressively broad and he sported a yellow hoodie and black cap with a denim jacket and jeans. His strong masculine jaw added a certain hardness to his expression. His eyes were a sweet almond shape, coloured in a warm rich chocolate brown with hints of a coppery golden hue only visible in direct light - his eyes whilst being youthful simultaneously held depth. The type of depth you'd see in the eyes of your grandparents or parents or teachers or veterans; Those with more experience in a world we know so little of. Those rich mahogany eyes shamelessly took me in, in a way that made me feel vulnerable. There was something about him that seemed familiar, like seeing an old friend for the first time after decades. Our eyes remain locked until he finally passed by me and he returned to his seat continuing with whatever he was doing before and I looked down and continued reading my book. ......................................................................................................................................................................
