I don't know if I should be doing this, but a concerned friend convinced me that it's for the best. Many years ago, a small-town newspaper ran a peculiar story. This simple act resulted in a tragic 'incident.' Very little is known about the incident, but the end result was the city's total collapse and desertion. If the town's name is preserved in any official record, it was recorded to resemble many other towns that 'died' because of a factory shutdown or some natural disaster. Missing from the record is the fact that the cause of the incident accompanied the people who left. The truth about what befell this place is hidden within a 'living story.' This narrative is linked to a curse that affects all of those who are aware of its existence. The curse is most intense when only a few people have read the story. Those people are enlessly tormented as they lose the ability to tell others about it, no matter how hard they try. Since the curse successfully prevents people from spreading it to others, a few of us figured the best way to break this curse is to extend it to as many people as possible. To do it, we embedded parts of the living story within another story that resides in yet another. If this works, the living story will continue expanding itself as more people read it. We're hoping the real story will eventually reveal itself to the world and break the curse. We can only hope for the best.
