"When the world needed them, they left us." Ninety years ago, the first Cogheart was created, a sign of hope for the less fortunate stuck living on land as the wealthy escaped to their glass bubble in the sky to escape the devastating disease that threatened the existence of humanity. Humans given mechanical hearts, lungs and later mechanically improved DNA became resistant to the disease, and became superior humans... but they soon became the targets of something far worse that wanted to see the supposed signs of a terrorist uprising destroyed. Ten years later, the Coghearts, rumored to have gone haywire and orchestrated one of the darkest times in history, became reduced to nothing but cautionary tales, the work of the scientists scattered to the winds. Cecile's life in the Cog district is a simple one. Days spent with her closest friends scavenging through scrap piles, scouring the market for decent deals and doing whatever they feel like, whenever they feel like it. Even if Cecile doesn't always feel like she belongs, it's better than being on the streets, or worse, dead. But when she and her best friend rescue a young girl from a scrap pile who reveals herself to be a Cogheart, they realize that the history they've been taught may not have been the truth... and that their whole world has more than a few things to hide. Swept into a whirlwind adventure after she reveals that she needs their help, Cecile and her group find themselves investigating the darkest parts of their districts, delving into history and the horrors of the older world that has been hidden from view. But as they search for their coveted prize, a safe haven that will lead their Cogheart friend to what she seeks, it becomes obvious that someone doesn't want them hunting for answers, and will do anything to keep their secrets to themselves and keep the silent, obedient peace... at any cost.
