Julianne lives on the road with her criminal father, helping with his 'activities'. She's good at it, she's cold and uncaring which works with the lifestyle. However after years of doing it alone, the police finally catch up to them and send her dad to prison and her to a group home. Her therapist discovers some haunting things. The fact she doesn't seem to feel anything, she has no empathy or guilt. But Julianne will never reveal her darkest secret. The devil that follows her around. Ferguson appeared when she was six. He didn't say anything for a long time, but she didn't care. She doesn't know where he came from or why he never left, but he protects her. And he does, when she sits in her sessions and reveals more about her past, and when they visit the prison to see her dad, and when they go to that place to see her mum after years apart. Julianne starts to wonder if it's possible for her to even feel anything. ------------- For the open novella contest 2023!
