Kaia has been a fish out of water since she was a kid. Never fitting in with her family except her Uncle Jack who shared her affinity for the ocean. Of course her love of swimming repeatedly gets her in trouble with her overprotective dad after her mom drowned. When a tail appears during Kaia's daily swim on her 17th birthday making her miss her family celebration and causing a huge fight with her dad. The two's relationship being strained already since her moms passing. Kaia's uncle suggests she come back to Australia with him for a while. Her Uncle thought the time apart would do them good and he needed the help at his rescue centre on the coast. Kaia immediately agrees happy to get away from her water fearing father and hoping to use the freedom to explore her gift. Kaia arrives on the coast hoping to hide her secret and find out who she is. But that isn't as easy as she thought. Gaining an Uncle as a best friend and a father figure while learning about herself, she helps rehabilitate a hurt dolphin. Can Kaia balance life on land with her life at sea or will the two crash together? Is her newfound abilities a gift or a curse set on destroying her life and taring her away from land altogether?
