From the moment Kathrine and Ian met and it was clear that they were meant to be together, but Ian's family doesn't exactly agree. Excerpt (cut): Picking up a twig bit Ian began digging into the dirt beside his leg. He kept his gaze glue to the ground while Kathrine buttoned her blouse. He dreaded the moment he would need to look up and face her. Kathrine slowly straightened out her clothes while she anxiously waited for Ian to say something, anything. The silence filled the air between them, and it was driving her crazy. She waited a few moments then closed her eyes. Suddenly the realization of their situation hit Kathrine. Ian sighed as if he could read her thoughts and as if he too had this dreadful weight pulling him down. He dropped the twig and wrapped his arm around Kathrine. “What are we going to do?” He asked her. Kathrine shook her head and with her face buried in Ian’s white t shirt she mumbled, “There isn’t anything we can do.” Gently pushing on her shoulder Ian lifted Kathrine off of him so that he could look her in the eye, “So you saying this is it?” He searched her face for some sign of hope, “We are just supposed to resign ourselves to this? A future that neither of us want, and one we had no choice in.” Ian stubbornly shook his head. “I don’t see what else we can do Ian.” Kathrine said her voice rattling with frustration. Ian’s thick brows narrowed as he glared at Kathrine. He couldn’t believe what she was saying. She just giving up on them on everything they had been working for. "Kat..." Ian whispered in her ear. "Shh, please..." Kathrine fought back the tears, "... I love you so much..." "I love you too." Ian interrupted and said sternly. Unlike Kathrine, Ian was not ready to give up. He did not care what this would do to his family or his father's position. He is in love with Kathrine. It is her he wanted to marry. ***This is a rough draft version so please if you see any errors leave a comment.
