Ouija Leave Me Alone

Has it really been over a year since I posted anything on here? ...ouch. I knew RL was having its way with me, but damn. It's been so long that all my old friends here have kind of dropped off too. I really miss everyone and everything we used to write and share with each other. Maybe I'll try to make a bit of a comeback here. No promises, too all over the place for that lol.

Still alive (maybe?) but between work and health and classes (yikes!), I haven’t had any time to work on my writing passion projects. Maybe with spring break creeping up on me, I might have the time to post up a few chapters.
          
          Or at least that’s what I HOPE.
          
          Don’t trust the words coming out of my mouth… I don’t even trust the words coming out of my mouth, lol. 
          
          I’m just hoping to get SOMETHING done sometime soon! I miss my precious characters ❤️

That moment when you expand so much on plot points that you’ve written ten whole chapters since you thought you only had ten chapters to go to be DONE… and then somehow STILL have almost ten more chapters to go before anything will be wrapped up. RIP. 
          
          Did someone say 40+ chapters? I did, I guess, lol. 
          
          (Side note: I hope to finish  R U [ I ] N E D  by the end of November. Wish me luck! ❤️)

When you plot out the rest of a novel thinking you know how long it will take you to tell what you have in mind, only to remember you always go overboard. Always. Without exception. 
          
          A little over 30 chapters? Nahhh. Let’s make it closer to 40! Why not?

Sometimes I write things knowing what’s going to happen as the author and just… hurt myself. Deep in my soul. Deep down in my evil, dark, icy heart. (At least as a creator, as a reader, I’m hella soft.)
          
          Why do I want myself to suffer? Makes for a good angsty story, I guess! 

Oddly inspiring Latin quote (I minored in Classics/Latin & Roman Civilization in college so this is just normal, it’s fineee): “nullus est liber tam malus it non aliqua parte prosit.” Which translates to: there is no book so bad that it is bit profitable in some part.” And for those of y’all who self-doubt as badly as I do, maybe you’ll find some motivation in this too! 
          
          …or maybe I’m just the one weirdo who finds comfort in this, which is also definitely a possibility 

I’m known for be more of a pantser than a plotter—always have been, always will be— but given I have a pretty solid idea of what’s going to happen in this last 3rd of  R U [ I ] N E D, I wanted to take a guess at what the final product will look like.
          
          Currently, the novel sits at 23 chapters and about 50k words (just a little less.) Given what I still have left to happen, there will definitely be at least 10 more chapters and an epilogue (I tend to average at about 2k per chapter.)
          
          Which by that math, leads me to believe that the finished first draft of this novel will be 70-75k when all said and done. Mid-range fantasy novel, which more than works for me. 
          
          Looking at all this has honestly been exciting for me, and I’m just as pumped to FINALLY finish this one. It’ll be my first completed novel on this new account since, like, 2016 (and that one isn’t even up anymore.) I call that an accomplishment  for sure ❤️
