At the risk of sounding pat: It gets better. It was so much easier for me to be myself (bi, nonbinary, not the sort of "daughter" my parents wanted at all) when I was able to get away from my parents and go to college. Even getting kicked out of my family and having to give everything up until I was deemed qualified for financial aid (financially independent, not needing a co-signer on my FAFSA: had to be 24, married, a veteran, a grad student, or a head of household. It was a long wait. I was 19 when my parents and I had our split) was better than living at home. Much better. You'll have your freedom eventually. Meanwhile, you have friends and your chosen family here. Hang in there. We're here for you.
