I just completed my fifth entry into the #planetorplastic contest. Have a look; it's under 500 words. https://www.wattpad.com/story/168407581

@TASseDeTea Thanks for the clarification. Good luck in the contest. I'll check out your story.

@Lyle-Elliott I honestly just want a review because I entered in the contest for the first time. Recently, I've been taking reading requests but only ones that had to do with the contest. Also I've noticed some of your comments in other entries I've read and they're really insightful and helpful so I figured there'd be no harm in asking, especially since I handed in my first draft lastttt minuteee (yikes)

          	   ^-^
          	  hope that answers your questions

@TASseDeTea Okay, I believe you as I checked your profile. You show there that you don't accept reading requests from other writers. But that made me curious.
          	  1. Why did you request one from me? You didn't really explain that part.
I'm not against reads or reviews and I see that you read and voted for one of my stories so I am up for a review, but I'm just curious.
          	  2. I want to know what it is you are looking for in a review. Do you want a high level, concept type review, a low-level mechanics type of review? What would be most helpful to you?

Thanks for following and for your kind and thoughtful comments. I figured I would follow you back. Also I see you're a fellow Las Vegan. It's always nice to "meet" some local writers.

Lyle-Elliott

@Wuckster Thanks. I have submitted zilch so far. I am still trying to study and improve to try to cut out some of the unnecessary rejection slips. I would like to get something sold, if only for clips; I just don't think I'm there quite yet.

If I can develop the discipline to write every day, get my writing mechanics and story telling tightened up, then maybe I can get in the habit of working the numbers game and keep writing after submitting, to improve my odds through sheer numbers.

I would like to do some marketing again, but in some ways for right now it feels more rewarding to share stuff here and get feedback rather than deal with the disappointment of numerous rejections. But good luck! And I will try to take a look at your stories when I get a little bit of time.

@Wuckster I hadn't noticed you were from Las Vegas, small world! Nice to say hello to you too. I've been working my way through some of your stories after I saw you on another member's follow list and wanted to check out your stories.

I agree with what you said in an earlier comment. I like making people laugh also. I haven't written much humor though. In a way, I'm still experimenting myself with different styles to see what fits. I only have two stories up from contests on this site and have been trying to find some stories that I can post here that I wouldn't necessarily market. Problem is, every time I write something, I wonder if I should market it, so my profile sits kind of empty. I promised myself after I get about three weeks worth of stories out of that prompt book, I'll start posting them. So, hopefully I'll add some content soon. Thanks for the follow also.

Ms_Horrendous

Are you working on any new projects?(:

Lyle-Elliott

@Ms_Horrendous I took a break from writing after the initial draft of my last story, waaay back in December I think. The Beta readers gave some good reviews so I thought I should get around to polishing up grammar and punctuation before I set to work on it. I got a pretty good DVD course from The Great Courses. It covered pretty much everything and I took about three weeks to go through it all.

Lately I've been doing reviews to try to see things from the agents and editors POV. It has helped a lot to think deeper on stories I am unfamiliar with. Kind of learn to look for the themes and plot lines while practicing my eye at grammar and punctuation.

I have been away from writing too long though. I need to get back in the seat and hammer out some stories. Thanks for the interest. If you would like, I could send you a link to that paranormal my Beta readers liked. I would need to polish it up a little though; it has cooled more than enough to begin editing.

Wow! After reading Cosmetic Perfection, I'm downright terrified, and that's a good thing! I've also noticed you give quite good advice, so good job!

Lyle-Elliott

@acciosiriusblack1977 Thanks CC. I'm glad you enjoyed the story. It was my first attempt at suspense at it was written for a TNT Terror contest. I actually had fun writing it, although the story didn't place. It forced me to try a genre I hadn't considered and I've gotten a good response from it. Thanks for taking the time to comment, I appreciate it.

Well welcome I've only been here since 8/2016 but I absolute ♡ it here. I feel like it's a great written / reading community. I have posted old & new stuff. My poems, but for Hearts Broken I wrote as a 15-16 yr old lol & the dog poems are new. So I hope you enjoy what you see too. I also did a lot of site surfing.
Contest I think are great cause it makes you real think & imagine.
Sorry for talking to much. I'm in CO & was in Las Vegas for a minute. One my brothers & his new wife got hitched there mid Oct. :)

AnnieStone420

It was interesting lol walking the strip as they say :) lots to see :) and you keep writing too.

@pswilson36 I like this site too. It has a lot to offer. I have seen and heard of published authors on this site who use it as a writer's platform, which is something I was looking for. I hope to do the same, but so far have only entered a couple contests. That is a nice feature of this site and I suspect I will be entering a lot more.

Ah yes, heartbreak. The one thing everyone has in common, well, sooner or later. I suspect everyone is "inspired" to write poetry due to those very reasons.

CO is one of the many states I lived in over the years. I was in Colorado Springs, one of my favorite places in the country. Your brother picked a good time to marry here. It was a little warm then, but not the fun furnace of the summer months. I hope you enjoyed your stay.

            Keep writing :)

Hi Lyle!

Many thanks for the wonderful follow, it's very kind of you! I appreciate it a lot. Cool to meet someone from Las Vegas too, must be a very vibrant city. Like I said in the Sci-Fi clubs, if you ever need any help or are looking for any tips feel free to give me a shout and I'll help where I can. :)

Best of luck with your novels!

          Happy Wattpadding!

@EmilyCharlotteCooledge Hello Miss Cooledge,
Sounds official doesn't it? Perhaps as a writer, when you are introduced to panels they will use the more authorly "E.C.Coolege". I'm pretty sure you will be hearing that soon :)

Yes, Las Vegas is many things to many people. I've experienced the glittery vibrant side and the everyday life of a big city also.

I have been to Wales also. Beautiful country, friendly people and train stations with confusingly long names in desperate need of a vowel. I enjoyed my stay there and toured castles, rock quarries, and sea side towns that abounded with history and charm.

I appreciate the warm welcome to Watpad and thank you for your assistance. I look forward to more of your writing.

            Lyle.
