Hey, just wanted to say since you want staff I'd be happy to help. Also...about the romance thing. So the romance thing sort of kickstarts my story (the MC is trying to help an old fling) but it then sort of spreads and there is a lot of other stuff. Like I plan for them to be together for the whole book as a subplot but the first little while is very focused on saving him...so, anyway, I'm just wondering if that would count?

@shiverfeather I'm sorta in the same boat. I have a romantic sub-plot to my story, too. My personal opinion (for what that's worth) is that since it is a subplot (i.e. the main plot of the story isn't specifically about how the main characters fall in love, with a romantic relationship being the end goal of the story) I think you'll be fine. Love connections between people are such a fundamental part of the human condition that I think stories in general would suffer if there wasn't some kind of romantic element to them. Without at least a little of that tension, I think the characters would risk losing their humanity, so to speak. Hope this helps.

Also, I'm willing to help out with the community, too. :)

Interesting, an Urban Fantasy community specifically avoiding paranormal romance. Sounds right up my alley. Are they any links or recommendations here?

Please feel free to check out my own urban fantasy novel. It is about secret vampire society in contemporary London, revolution and a little bit of philosophical musings.
