She reads to forget, to quench her thirst of imaginary places, people and situations that would make her heart explode of euphoria and bliss. She reads to somehow escape reality and lets herself sink to the bottomless pit of wild beautiful imaginations. She reads because if not, she'd go crazy like a maniac.
