It seems the Mars One organization is dead. With the upfront costs needed to make colonization a reality, did anyone expect a different ending? https://www.engadget.com/2019/02/11/mars-one-is-dead/

Now, let's get excited about Starship, Super Heavy and Raptor engines...

@innerfish I saw that - it became clear pretty quickly that they weren't actually doing anything. But, like you note, there are more hopeful organizations - some have been around a long time like The Mars Society. Some new like SpaceX, which actually has rockets! For today, we have to take the trip with scifi

Happy Thanksgiving! Happy Pearl Harbor Remembrance Day. Is that appropriate sentiment? I don't know. I once sailed from Los Angeles to Hawaii--four days across the Pacific Ocean. At Oahu I took a tour of the USS Arizona Memorial. It was a humbling reminder of the last time the world was at war. My hope is history will not repeat itself. Wishing the world peace for the holidays. Especially Syria.
On a happier note, I'd like to wish a warm welcome to @jonlen @maderlore and @kyillar for following. Welcome aboard!
As many of you know, every read and every vote work as advertisement for stories. The Wattpad ranking system helps to expose books to readers. I am deeply thankful for all of your reads and votes. Especially @DallasHerrmann and @kdidriksen for your binge votes!
In space news, we lost a Russian supply rocket bound for the ISS. It was the second supply loss in two years (the other one was a SpaceX failure). It makes me sad but at least no loss of life occurred. I guess that's the silver lining.

Happy Halloween sci-fi fans! I'm humbly grateful for the support @scope2000 has given my stories. TYVM for all the chapter votes!!! @christirichards and @JulieSabin , thank you for following. Julie, thanks for the shameless plug you gave One Way Ticket on Facebook. Christi, yes, I split my time between writing, coding, and marathon training in addition to work and family life. ( No worries, I'll get the mobile app done https://github.com/nutritionfactsorg/daily-dozen-ios ) Finally, my sympathies go out to ESA after their Mars probe crashed down. Trial and error mark the path of success. http://www.cnbc.com/2016/10/22/hard-crash-landing-may-have-wrecked-europes-mars-probe.html

Happy Friday fellow sci-fi fans! First off, I'd like to thank two new followers, @Noah_Flick and @FlorinHanganu for joining the trip to Mars. Welcome! Second, I hope you've all heard about Elon Musk's unveiling of his vision for an interplanetary transport system. https://youtu.be/0qo78R_yYFA Mars ahead!
Finally, I'm super happy that Starbucks just introduced almond milk. A good dairy free latte helps me focus when I write. See you all on the red planet!

SETI is currently investigating a possible extra terrestrial signal from deep space.

@innerfish @Tdmorris So cool I have to keep searching for updates - even if they don't look good for SETI http://news.nationalgeographic.com/2016/08/seti-signal-sun-like-star-hercules-aliens-life-space-science/ but the last word is still coming

@innerfish Totally awesome, to think something is communicating from space! I LOVED that movie Contact, just to think of people listening, listening, listening, waiting, waiting, waiting, for contact from life on another planet. Just yesterday, I heard Drew Mariani discuss, on his show, the Kepler discovery of an earth-like planet in the habitable zone of another star. Amazing, exciting stuff. I'm of the Steven Spielberg school of thought that life from other planets are likely to be friendly.
