I like all the books other than a hell of a lot of vampire/werewolf ones and I don't understand poetry so there is no point in giving me that. Other than those my rule is check the grammar (doesn't have to be A star, just at a level where I don't have to look twice to understand), check for an unnecessary romantic subplot (not opposed; just want someone to stop doing them all the time) and then I will read if you wish to put your book forward for reading before you publish, that sort of thing.
