THE FINAL BELL HAD RUNG, dismissing the students for the day. "Give me your phone number." Oikawa whispered, turning in his seat to face y/n.

Y/n, who was looking down at the floor as she packed her school bag, glared up at him in confusion. "Why are you whispering?"

He choked. Crap...If I tell her it's because I don't want people to know we're friends...she'll definitely kick my ass...

"...Just gimme."

Y/n squinted her eyes at him, taking out a stick note from her binder. "Can I ask why you need this?"

"To communicate with you, duh! We'll meet at the stadium at 7 p.m sharp, so don't be late." Oikawa lectured, taking the purple sticky note with y/n's phone number written on it.

"If anyone would be late, it's you." Y/n teased, grabbing her bag and standing up from her desk, brushing off her backside. "Later, Oikawa."

He watched as y/n strolled out of their homeroom, disappearing into the ocean of kids in the hallway. Oikawa sighed, carefully folding the stick note into his pocket. He stood up and grabbed both his gym bag and school bag, prepared to leave the room, when someone stepped out in front of him.

It was Hiyori.

"Oh, Yori, hey, what's up?" Oikawa asked, glancing over at the wall clock to make sure he wouldn't be late for practice.

"Just checking in...I noticed you've been talking to the y/n girl more...Have you already moved on from Yuri?"

Oikawa glared at her. He could be dumb, but not dumb enough to fall for charades like Hiyori was attempting to create. "Why have you been mentioning her so much recently?"

"I told you. Yuri really wants to talk to you. It's pretty important-"

"I need to get to practice. I'll talk to her when I have time, okay?" He assured, trying to maintain his pretty, charming boy act.

Hiyori pursed her lips before forcing a smile. "Sure! Have fun at practice, Toru!"

"Will do." He gave a half grin, brushing past her and jogging out the room to practice. Fangirls squealed as they saw their favorite student in the halls, greeting Oikawa and accompanying him to practice.

Hiyori smirked, holding up the purple sticky note
y/n had given Oikawa not too long ago. "...A phone number?" She whispered, reading the digits on the paper.

Y/n hummed to herself as she walked to the bookstore that was located near the school. Usually, she would go home and take care of a few chores, but killing time at the bookstore would be way more fun than washing dishes.

Students passed by her, chatting eagerly about their plans for the weekend, school gossip, boys, and club activities...

A part of y/n's heart broke.

She was never the best at making friends, and she wished she was. Students in cliques—groups that accepted them—take their privileges for granted.

They don't understand how lucky they are to have people who care about them.

How lucky they are to have a person to talk to when they were sad.

How lucky they are to have a friend to eat with at lunch.

How lucky they are to fit in so easily.

Y/n longed for that moment, where she'd find someone that truly cared for her. A friend that would make her laugh. Smile. Support her.

"This must be why no one knows who you are! You're so rude, no one wants to be friends with you!"

Y/n tilted her head back to stare at the afternoon sky, watching the clouds slowly float by. Maybe Oikawa's right...I push people away before I can even let them get to know me...

She felt a sudden buzz come from her pocket, y/n taking her phone out of her pocket to view a shocking message.

hey it's oikawa. forget anything i've said.
i don't wanna be seen with you.
a girl like you would only look bad for me.
i just needed you for a bet anyway.

Y/n froze in her tracks, stopping in the middle of the sidewalk. She stared at her phone with dull eyes, her face blank.

...At this point.

I'm used to it.

I'm used to it
