As the fires of the Second Wizarding War rage, Cassiopeia finds herself not only entangled in the plans of the Dark Lord but captivated by the enigmatic Theodore Nott. Detached yet deeply aware of the shadows that haunt them both, Theo becomes her c...
It was a glowing, green skull with a serpent slithering out of its mouth like a tongue, it engulfed the whole sky, She could feel the deaths, the fear of people running around, the scent of blood.
Theodore tugged on their intertwined hands and pulled Cassiopeia to the Port Key.
They arrived at the Nott family estate.
The house elf welcomed them and asked her master Theo to wait for his father,
Cassiopeia looked around, she had been there too many times, The Nott manor was the biggest and most ancient among all the pure-blood families.
Cassiopeia and Theodore grew up in those walls, laughing and creating mischief, it was the time when Cassandra Nott was alive, she spent her last days, looking at the two kids playing around and growing up, Cassie reminded her of her Arty, Watching the little ones calmed her, it assured her that her little Theo won't be left alone in this world, She hoped that this friendship might grow into love, She hoped for a bright future for her son one filled with love not darkness.
She wished for only one thing that he doesn't face the demons she and her husband did, and Cassandra wished that her son never had to bear the Dark Mark.
Theodore sat beside Cassiopeia, She spoke looking straight at Cassandra's portrait.
"He's back, I can feel it-" She turned to face him
"Everything is going to change Theo" Her face saddened, and he kept his hand over hers, moving his thumb to comfort her
"Everything, not you and me" She smiled at him, So did the portrait of the beautiful woman Theo had taken after
Draco sat beside the pair and glanced at them, Draco knew what was going on between them more than anybody, he was aware how Theo had always had feelings for his cousin but never showed her, and he was aware of how much his cousin tried to show her feelings but failed to, He never interfered, nor was he going to, he knew that with time, these two were inevitable.
Both of them collected themselves and separated when they heard the sound of someone apparating.
The adults were talking in hushed voices as they walked towards the teens.
Narcissa ran to the kids and engulfed three of them in a tight embrace
"Are you all okay?-" she looked at the three of them as they nodded their head in reply
"-Oh my babies, you all did well" she kissed Draco's head
"Did any try to hurt you, death eater or auror?" Regulus asked them
Three of them shook their heads no in unison
Mr Nott looked at Cassiopeia
"Did some notice your... abilities dear?"
Cassiopeia replied in a soft voice "He was looking at me, I did nothing and he fell clutching his left arm and then he shot the mark in the sky"
Lucius's face paled " Who was it?" He asked with an unusual urgency in his voice
"Uncle Barty as I remember" Alexzander continued
"Remember? You were only a year old" Cassiopeia shrugged her shoulder and replied
"I have always known about few things, I remember everything, the faces, some words, I remember my father, his face, my mother, her face, it's foggy, but all there"
Regulus gave her a sad smile
"He's Back isn't he?" Draco asked his voice laced with uncertainty
"He will be, very soon" Regulus spoke
They were all having dinner before departing their ways,
"Hogwarts is hosting the Triwizard championship this year, any of you giving names?" Lucius asked assertively
"We have no reason to risk our lives-" Theodore claimed
"It's practically suicide" Draco continued
Mr Nott looked at Cassiopeia "What about you dear?"
she placed her fork back on the plate "I think eternal glory comes with the family names, we are present on tapestries, why risk life for something we already have"
Regulus was pleased with her answer, she was already in enough danger as it was, the dark lord wanted her home, and the biggest threat was Dumbledore getting to know her real parentage.
"You three have to stick together, just as you have since you were infants, but now more than ever-"
Mr Nott continued, with a very serious expression and heavy voice
"-These days will test you, you must not falter, when he comes back, we will fall into our natural roles, but till then whatever happens look out for each"
Narcissa added "Not just now my dears, Always"
This was something the three Slytherins were sure of that they had each other's back.
Cassiopeia and Regulus travelled back home, she went straight to her room to pack her trunks for the upcoming year, She kept the diary in hand hand and with a spell it vanished, Hidden just as she wanted it to be
She slept waiting to wake up and go back to Hogwarts
