"Katherine," I whisper, shaking her. I'm currently kneeling on the ground. An hour ago, at around six am, I woke up. This whole time I've been awkwardly waiting for her to wake up. But, now, we have to start the day.

I watch her stir, shoving her face back into her pillow. "Katherine, come on." I all but whine.

All she does in response is groan and flip to her other side.

I huff, wondering how I can wake her up. That's when I get an idea.

A smile grows on my face as I grab a pillow. I hop back on my side on the bed, sit down, and start violently hitting her with it.

"Ga!" She screams, sitting up. "Okay, okay, I'm up!" She says. She sits up, rubbing the sleep from her eyes. That's when she looks at me, a look of remembrance on her face. "Oh my god, how long were you awake?" She asks.

"Only an hour." I shrug.

Her eyes widen, "What were you doing for that long? What time is it?"

"It's seven am, I think. And I just kinda....sat here I guess?"

Katherine groans, grabbing a pillow and shoving her head in it. "I'm the worst hostess ever." She says, the words coming out muffled. "Tomorrow just wake me up!"

I laugh, "Katherine, really, it's okay! We just have to get ready for the day. Circulation center, remember?"

"Oh goodness! Now I do!" She says, scrambling up. She grabs her hair brush, untangling her wavy hair. I already brushed mine, sorta, so now I tie it up and twist it into my hat. I steal a glance in the mirror, and frown.

My bruise is gone, (from the night I knocked out one of Spot's guards) But I just look....

I don't know.

Katherine seems to notice, stopping brushing her hair. "Deer?"

"Yeah?" I ask getting back to tucking my hair in.

"You okay?"

"Yeah, I'm fine."

"Liar!" She says in a sing-song voice.

"True!" I say, matching her tone.

"Well, whats up?"

I shrug, trying to play it off. "I just always look like a boy, that's all."

She hums, obviously thinking about what I told her. To my relief, she drops the subject.

But now my brain focuses about another thing- or person, rather: Spot Conlon.

My heart flutters for a moment, just by the thought of him. I shake my head.

No, no, no. I am not turning into some lovesick girl. It's a crush, I can admit that. But that's all it is. Just a simple thing.

Even I know I'm lying to myself.

"Are you ready to go?" Katherine asks, pulling me out of my thoughts.

"Physically, yes. Menatlly? I'm a little nervous."

"About seeing the Manhattan Newsies or Spot Conlon?"

"Both." The answer tumbles out before I can stop it.

Katherine snorts, looking at me with a smile on her face. "Well the worry won't go away till you face it."

I groan, shoving my face in one of her many soft pillows. "Perché devi avere ragione?" I complain.

"Deer, come on! You know I have no clue what you're saying!" She says, exasperated.
