The Tower

For those of you reading this before, I am changing Karen to Katie, just so she isn't mixed up with Bumblebee. :3

"What's up with you?"

"What do you mean?" I asked Katie.

She sighed and sat down on the couch next to me, "You've been acting like a goofball all week. Right after you kept complaining for three days straight about a sister who you feel is like your personal nemesis."

It was the weekend, and we were at the tower. Rose was with us too, wearing her Ravager costume minus the mask. She was talking with Mar'i- the vicious sneak -my brothers, and Andre at the moment. They all seemed so taken by her, and I couldn't understand why. She was an enemy, the daughter of one at the very least. And besides, all the attention seemed to make her feel very uncomfortable. I know it makes me feel that way.

I turned to Katie to tell her all about Jack, how he had waved to me on Wednesday and how on Thursday I found out that we were in the same Driver's Ed class and got to sit together. I was about to tell her all of that, when the alarm began to blare.

Victor Jr., at the computer like always, began to type in keys furiously, trying to deduce what the problem was.

I had a gut feeling about it already, "Slade?" I asked viciously, ignoring the wince that crossed Rose's face.

I also ignored the slight glare that Mar'i sent me as Victor brought up the video footage from the Jump City Harbor.

"Nope," he said smoothly, "Trident is filling up the Jump City Bay with some toxic pollution, and apparently it's also a sentient sort of being in addition to being poisonous." He pointed to the image, where some shiny sort of black goo was crawling out onto the beach, scaring off all the sunbathers. And standing on a large lump of the goo that stuck up out of the ocean, was the ancient, scaly villain himself.

We all turned to Andre. He'd fought this villain plenty of times, seeing as Trident, his father, was Tempest's arch-enemy.

Andre nodded at everyone, "Lets go," he said quietly, almost in a whisper.

"Titans, Go!" Mar'i cried. We all ran- or flew -out of the main ops, as always, at her beck and call.

Swift got to the scene at first, of course. Vibrating her arm as fast as she could, she stuck in in a pile of the goo, making it explode. But at least it didn't re-form or continue to move afterwards.

Crow and I made giant fists out of our respective matter and slammed them on top of some goo. The squelch it made in the process was quite satisfying.

Devil shot some pink hexes at the goo, and Nightstar shot her starbolts. Leo was now a hippopotamus, Michael was an elephant, and they were both having a blast squishing the goo.

Cardinal and Ravager were both doing the best that they could without superpowers, slicing and dicing the toxic sea goop as fast as they could. But if you didn't have super-strength, slicing and dicing can get tiring pretty fast.

A large pile of goo grew up behind them, and on instinct, to protect both my teammates, I shot a rock through the goo, blasting it to pieces.

"Get Trident!" I yelled at them. Ravager and Cardinal nodded their affirmation and headed through the maze of goop towards the scaly villain.

"Devil, Beast Twins, help me keep him distracted!" I called to my brothers and Jai.

Trident seemed to be able control the goo like I could control the earth. I made a fist of sand, and he made a fist of the goo. For the next few seconds, it was like a giant game of thumb war. Sand, goo, and pink energy flew everywhere, accompanied by starbolts and the sound of various animals. Swift's wind wall kept the and from our eyes, blowing it all back at Trident.

And then suddenly, the goo all went limp. I blew the dust back to the ground, and we all saw Rose and Ryan wading out of the water, dragging Trident behind them.

"Piece of cake," Cardinal shoved our villain at his sister's feet and she immediately handcuffed him before grabbing his collar and flying him off to jail.

For some reason, I couldn't keep my eyes off of Andre as he congratulated Rose.

"Hey!" Katie yelled, really loud, in my ear.

"What?" I just gave her a blank look.

Katie moaned and threw her hands up in the air before turning to glare at me.

"When you decide to start acting like my best friend again, call me." And with that, she ran off.

"Um...I'll go find her," Jai offered. In a flash of pink and purple, he was gone too.

Everyone looked at me funny. As if this were all my fault.

"What?" I asked.
