Is it better to be loved or feared?

Is it better to be loved or feared?

A father asked his son,
The son had answered love,
While the father answered fear.
But none of them knew,
Which one was better,
Love or Fear.

Cruel was the question to decide between Love and fear.
But only a true heart could know,
What was truly real.

With love there is sorrow,
And without sorrow, there is no love.
And so is the same with fear.
But what is life without these both?

So what must we choose?
To be loved or to be feared,
With both could come heartache,
And also could come glory.

Once again, I ask myself in the hope to find an answer,
Is it better to be loved or to be feared?
