AKIRA had always been the odd one out in her family. Being the only nonbender in a bending only family was very difficult, especially since they saw her as less than. She had gotten quite used to her siblings nagging her about being a nonbender, showing them up when it came to hand-to-hand combat and strategy. Akira had learned to adapt and adjust in a world where benders and nonbenders lived separately, knowing where each one stood in matter of opinions. She had been fed one narrative her entire life. That she wasn't equal nor worthy of being a bender and that's why the spirits chose to deprive her of something so special. Hours upon hours she had spent training herself to outdo her siblings and any benders her parents threw in her path to show just how unworthy she was. She had proven herself to her entire family time after time again that she didn't need bending to have raw power. But every time they reminded her that it would never be good enough and was a black spot covering the family portrait.
