Chapter 1

"MY VAGINA TORE BIRTHING YOU. YOU CAN'T JUST TALK TO ME ANY WAY YOU WANT, EMILY!" I whipped my head around so fast.

"Yo, what the fuck?" I said with shock on my face, trying my best not to laugh.

My best friend, Taliah, mirrored my expression. "Girl, I don't even know."

A pretty girl with long brown hair looked at the screaming lady in what I could only call disgust. "Well maybe if you were a better mother I would have more respect for you." Taliah choked on her sour patch kid.

"Ayo, she wilding for real bro." At this point there were tears in her eyes from laughing so hard.

"On God." I said, laughing as I turned away from the scene. "Chile let me mind my black business."

We continued on our way, enjoying one of the last few days of our summer break walking through the park. I was ready to go back to school. I had dropped choir with a quickness, and will now be a teacher's aid for ASL. Hopefully, Taliah will be in the same period. I wonder what I should wear on my first day back. Maybe that grey sweater and-

"Ria!" Taliah yelled, even though she was right next to me.

I looked at her like she was crazy, "Ma'am, can I help you?"

"I've been calling your name for the past minute straight."

"You probably only said it twice, but go on." I said laughing.

"Anyways," she paused, "I was saying Kylie texted me again." I internally groaned.

"What did she say?" I asked with my brow raised.

"Just that she's really sorry and that she wants to make it up to me," she said smiling a little. I wonder what the fuck she thinks is funny. "She said we should go out to talk soon."

"And what did you say to that?" I got scared when she looked at me guiltily. "T?"

She cringed, "I said, 'yes'"

"Taliah Raquelle Johnson!"

"Ria Storm Rose!"

"Uh uh. Don't be calling my name like I'm the one making this kind of decisions." I shook my head, still not believing what I just heard.

"What kind of decisions, Ri?" I cocked my head to the side. "Okay, maybe it doesn't seem very smart."

"Girl, she deadass made out with Sonia, while y'all were together."

"Nah, Sonia kissed her." she said while shaking her head.

"Kinda funny how this theory is coming out now that Sonia moved." I said, angry at the whole situation. Taliah was a wreck because of that hoe, Kylie. And now here comes her ugly ass again, trying to play with my baby's feelings.

"I just really like her, Ri." The look on her face made me pipe down a little. "I don't know why, but I can't get her out of my head. I've tried, but I can't."

"Awww T." I said while reaching out to hug her. Luckily, there were only a couple other people in the park and they were far away from us. She hates when strangers see her being soft.

I pulled away from her and searched her face. I breathed out a sigh of relief when I saw that she wasn't crying. I would have had to beat Kylie's ass if T shed another tear because of her.

"Look, I won't say I support this, but I support you. So, if this is what you're gonna do, this is what you're gonna do, and I'm finna be here for you a'ight?"

"Bro, you're the best for real," she said as she pulled me into another hug.

"Girl, I ain't even do nothing," I said laughing.

"You just being here for me is a lot, Ri." She said as she pulled away and we started walking again. "Movies and snacks tonight?"

"Did y'all stack up on snacks?"

"Yeah."

"Then you already know." I called my mom and asked for permission to sleep over, and of course she said yes. We spent the night watching horrible movies and eating unhealthy snacks.
