Chapter 9

"So I was thinking we shou-" I was trying to say when Mason burst through the door making me bury my head in my pillow from frustration

"Can I talk to her for just a sec? She'll be back" Mason asked Austin

"You know Simone, I think I should just leave since you already have company" Austin said getting up but I talked good hand back

"Wait no don't go, I don't want to be left alone with him" I said the him with distaste

"Well I think you guys have a lot to talk about so I'll be on my way. If you need anything, you can call me, okay?" He said

"Fine, sure. Thanks for leaving me Austin" I said just before he left my room

I turned to see Mason on my bed. "So would you let me talk now to you now?" He asked.

"Why do you have to be so self- You know what just talk and lets get this over with. I don't want to have to talk to you" I folded my arms, avoiding eye contact

"See Simone, I should be the one mad at you but I'm not and I've forgiving you for that-"

"And why should you be mad at me?" I asked

"Have you forgotten already?" He asked with a scowl on his face "the incident at the restaurant?"

"First off you have no right to be mad at me. It's my choice whatever I want to do" I stated "and secondly, if you ever taught of letting me explain then you would have understood" I added with a scowl of my own

"There's nothing you can say to-" he saying before I pressed my palm against his lips

"So what I'm trying to say is that he was trying to prove a point which from what I can already see is wrong so you don't ever have to worry about that any more" exclaimed as fast as I can before he completely remove my palm from his lips

"And what would that point be" he asked curiousity showing through his eyes

"It doesn't matter" I remarked looking away from his eyes

"Just tell me" he insisted grabbing my shoulders to put my focus back on his face

Oh my God, this is so awkward. How does he expect me to tell him that the point is that he likes me. Ugh

I quickly reached into my pocket for my phone and put it against my ear "oh hey Sheena. Oh you want me come over? Sure I'll right there."

With that, I quickly stood up and ran out before he had any time to grab me back

After about twenty five minutes I was at the front of Sheena's house waiting for her to open up

"Hey Simone! What brings you- oh I guess you can just barge in instead. That would work"

"Sheena I need you're help with something" I blurted, frustration clearly written on my face

"Oh my day? It has been great. How about yours" she asked given me a pointed look masked by a fake smile

"I'm sorry. I'm just really- let's just sit down and talk, I'm sorry for not calling before I came" I sighed

"You didn't call but someone did. Mason asked if I called you to come so I just went with the flow and said yes. So I kinda had a hint" she shrugged "so let's just go to my room and talk then maybe later, we can Netflix and ch-"

"Nooooo" I yelled instinctively "maybe another thing but not that"

"Well okay. I guess" she shrugged

"So what brings you here?" She asked when we were finally seated

Well there are a lot of problems "First off, your cousin and second off. I need a job" were the only things that came to my mind at that point in time

"Really? Mason? What's wrong with him?" She asked

"Well everything. He's been acting like a douchebag lately. He still doesn't understand the situation at the restaurant and he's still mad and I can't stand him anymore" I let out

"Is that why you need a job?" She asked

"Well yeah, kind of"

She taught for a moment before she spoke "well let's fill out some job applications. I heard there's a restaurant down the street that needs an employee

~ • ~

After filling out about five application forms we were exhausted and went out to eat. We were having a late lunch when Sheena spoke up "Well Simone, I have something tell you" she said

"Well go ahead" I replied

"So sometime ago, I had this competition and my biggest problem was in the competition. We always competed and he was even almost better than me and I had been seeing him practice real had for the competition so in order not to loose to him, I backed out and didn't compete. I watched the competition and he didn't win but failed to something I knew the answer to and I regretted it" she spoke looking at me with hopeful eyes like I was meant to get something

I thought deeply for a second before I finally spoke. "What was the competition about" I asked making her face palm and let out an exasperated sigh

"Whay would you have advised me then?" She asked

I thought deeply for another second and replied "that you shouldn't run away from your problems?" I spoke as I started to understand  " 'cause It's going to backfire and turn into another kind"

"Exactly!" She grinned "And I think you should take your own advice" she paused "and I mean that in more than one way"

After she said those thoughts. She left me to think deeply. Of course I know the first thing she's talking about. It's about this job, to stay away from Mason but what could the second one be?

I went home still lost in thought from what she had told me hoping I will figure everything out before it's too late
