Shai slowly stood, looking around at the destruction.

The grand Jade Palace, now a ruined wooden structure. Scraps of paper scrolls floated down from the air. She looked down the smashed stone stairs. Oogway's statue lay broken at the bottom.

Out of all the Kung Fu Masters of the Mortal Realm, Shai, Tigress and Po were the only ones left.
Shai was the only one standing between Kai and her students - her friends.

"I have changed my mind," Shai said.
Kai looked over at her as she turned to face him.
"I will join you."

Kai smiled, "I knew you'd come around. It was only a matter of time."

Shai walked over to the broken blade. She placed the three pieces together. She put her hands on top of it and used her Chi.

Kai watched with wide eyes as a yellow light emitted from Shai's hands and the blade, which sluggishly turned yellow. He moved closer to watch. The cracks glowed, slowly joining together to form the blade once again.

Shai stood and swung the blade. She turned to Kai, a warm smile on her face.

"There. Good as new," she said as she placed the hilt in Kai's hand, causing the blade to fade back to its jade green.

Kai stared at it. Shai stifled a laugh at the look on his face.

"How did you do that," he asked, glancing up at her.

"The power of Chi is only limited to the wielder's imagination," she replied.

She chuckled softly at the thought of Shifu needing "at least 30 more years and a cave".

"And I suppose it also depends on how much you practice," Shai added through a small laugh.

Kai chuckled. Though, it wasn't one of those dark ones, it was light and full of humor. Even the look in his eyes changed.

Shai could feel something drawing her to him. She had never felt a pull like this before. She wasn't quite sure what it was about; she put it at the back of her mind.

"Let's not waste anymore time," Kai said, placing the blades on his belt.

Shai nodded, "Lead the way, General Kai."

Kai gave her a quick glance - sending her a smirk - before getting on all-fours and running off.

Shai looked at the ruined Palace one last time before she ran off on her fours.

The two had followed Tigress's trail from dawn till dusk. Shai had never felt her lungs burn so much. Her heart felt like it might just give up.

She hadn't realised she had fallen behind until Kai stopped and stood.

She quickly sprang to her hindlegs. She dug her heels into the ground. She came to a halt just in front of him.

Kai looked down at Shai. She was half haunched over, panting as if she'd run non-stop for days.

"We will rest here," he said.

Without skipping a beat, she flopped to the ground. Once Shai's breathing had returned to normal, most of the stars had littered the darkening sky.

Pain stabbed her chest. It stung down her left arm. Her left fingers went tingly. She winced, furrowing her brows in confusion. Shai sighed; as soon as it appeared, the pain was gone again.

"Are you alright," Kai asked, his deep voice full of concern.

Shai looked over at him. "Do you remember when we first met in the Spirit Realm, about 5yrs ago?"

Shai swore she saw Kai smile. "Yes," he replied.

"When you were starting to take my Chi, when I made a wave of Chi to send you away," she paused, "Something has been wrong with my heart ever since."

Kai thought about it for a moment before responding. "Part of your heart still has jade in it. I can feel it; I can feel every beat of your heart."

"And I could feel you take the Chi of the Masters in the Spirit Realm."

The two locked eyes for a few moments before looking away.

"Get some rest, Shai Lung," he said.

She smiled, "Just call me Shai."
