The Alpha's Mate

Chapter 2

Atlanta's POV

I wake with a start and look around frantically.

I had that dream. Again. It's been stuck in my head since the day it happened. All I can see is that Alpha, his hungry eyes glaring at me, my mother and father. My whole pack. All I had ever known. Gone.

Sighing, I watch as my breath makes puffs of cloud in the air. It's cold this morning and the temperature must have reached below freezing overnight because frost clings to everything. I get up and stretch, arcing my back high in the air. My fur clings to my back, having slept on it all night.

I am a brown furred wolf with amber eyes, nothing special. In human form, I am a reasonably tall girl with long straight chestnut hair that reaches my waist and blue green eyes. Since the day the rogue pack raided my camp and destroyed everything, including my friends and family, I have learned to grown independent and strong on my own. When it happened, I was eleven. I'm now eighteen and I still haven't found a mate yet. I have learned to live on my own so far, but the life of a rogue is becoming lonely and I long for the comforts of someone else, not my own shadow.

I haven't eaten for days and as I walk slowly in search of a new shelter, I begin to feel the effects of hunger. My stomach is growling desperately. All I want is something fleshy to sink my teeth into.

Suddenly, I hear a noise and I spin round to look into the nearest clump of bushes. Two piercing blue eyes glare back at me.

"Trespasser" it growls, I can tell now it is female.

Suddenly, a second pair of eyes follow the first. This time they are a liquid gold colour and the voice that speaks next is male.

"Yes but the trespasser is female" he says. " And she appears to be alone."

Alec's POV
(You'll understand who Alec is in a minute if you haven't read the blurb)

The minute I see her I know she is the one.

"Mate" I whisper

I feel Talia next to me tense. Her coat brushes mine and she murmurs in my ear

"She's clearly faking being alone. We should kill her while we can."

"No" I say firmly, "didn't you hear what I said?! "

Talia is an incredibly beautiful girl when in human form, she has the same blue eyes as wolf form and super long blondish hair. To be honest, it's the only reason I keep her around. Apart from her looks, she is very opinionated and argumentative. She also has a love of getting her own way.

But this girl is striking. I can tell instantly she and I are meant to be mates.

"Leave Talia" I growled.

"But Alec" she protested.

"No" I say firmly , "leave"

When she hesitates I snap at her, "now" I say.

Atlanta's POV

I can hear their argument through the leaves, then I see movement as the female leaves the liquid gold eyes behind. Then the bushes part and a brown wolf steps out, golden eyes gleaming.

"Mate" he says.

My heart is pounding. I can hear my instincts calling. He's my mate, I think. He'll have to let me in his pack.

He approaches me quickly, and instantly rubs against me.

"Mate" he whispers.

"Mate" I whisper back.
