chapter 2

Lanas shadow was rushing right behind Nina's. Nina's head was about to burst, still not being able to get her head around what was happening. The glitching, the weather. It was all strange. For 17 years she had lived in a perfect world, with a perfect family and the bestest friend. But today all those memories were wiped out. Their escape to the door on the border wall was led by the first glimmer of light in a world that has been in shadows for longer than memory. They took one last look at each other before jumping down.

"This door, this simulation, this world, why are we here?" Lana asked. Nina shook my head in disbelief of the view outside that door.

"Whatever it is, this door is a promise of better days," she answered, "It is a promise that no matter what we go through we will always stick together."

Lana smiled, taking a step forward, "Always and forever."

They took one step out of the door together, looking at the magnificently unknown world. The reflective greens of the landscape glowed brighter in the strengthening light. The red flowers were reflecting the warm sunlight, just like Lana's hair. Nina turned to look at a butterfly sitting on Lana's hair. Her hair was truly a duplicate of red roses during summer.

"Nina..." she turned around to look at her, "this, all this was hidden from us all our lives. The beautiful roses, the chirping birds and the warm sunlight. It's all so beautiful."

"Why would they do that to us?" Nina asked

"I'm not sure but whatever they wanted to do is destroyed. We need to get out of here before whoever is behind this captures us again." Nina nodded in agreement. They turned around looking at our surroundings. It was all trees. Huge, tall trees. Looking at a particularly tall tree, Nina decided to climb one to get a better understanding of her surroundings. What she saw wasn't very pleasant. A dome. A huge dome. For all her life she was trapped inside a dome. On top of the dome was a sign. A huge red sign with the words, 'Reality Dome' written on it. They were living inside a reality dome. Separated from the outside world. Nina jumped back down onto the dirty soil ground in disbelief. Suddenly she couldn't control the tears falling from her eyes. Slamming down her bag, she placed her head onto her knees. Hot tears flooded down her face.

"Hey, hey it's okay," Lana was hugging Nina so tight she could barely breathe, "we are in this together. Yes we just found out that our entire life was just technology. But hey i'm still here, and i'm still your best friend. Afterall you are like a sister I never had. What did we promise each other?"

Nina looked up at her face hugging her back, "Always and forever,"

All her life Lana was there right beside her. She is her best friend. She's like her sister. She is the only one that knew everything about Nina. From her little crushes, to the fights at home. She knew everything. And Nina trusted her more than her own eyes. Nina trusted her with her life. And she was the same in return. Lana stood up pulling Nina up with her.

"We are going to escape this hell hole and we are going to find out who did this to us. Ok?" Nina nodded.

They ran into the evergreen forest, enjoying their true surroundings. The outside world was truly magnificent. Nina converted every emotion into running. Adrenaline coursed through her green and red veins. She finally felt alive. With every step, she could hear the crunch of the autumn leaves. It was at this moment that she felt power. Even the birds were dancing. They were dancing to the sweet melody of the steady wind. The soft breeze. Nina was looking around enjoying her surroundings, when Lana suddenly stopped in front of her. Nina stopped right behind her looking at the two tall figures in front of them. Two men with broad shoulders. One had black curly hair, whilst the other had the shiniest blonde hair. One of them had his hand on the gun that was beside his hip. He gave the girls a narrowed look before grabbing two bags and harshly putting their heads inside it. Nina was screaming and screaming. She kicked them and tried to push them off using her hands but there was no use. She could hear Lana kicking them and punching them. She was screaming for help, begging them to let them go. They tried to fight against them until a third man ordered, "Don't put a bag over the red hair. She's special,"

Nina heard them take the bag off Lana, whilst she was still inside the bag kicking.

"Time to go girls. Boss will be happy about this," one said as the other two chuckled. Then Nina felt a sudden kick right in her stomach. Pain spread right across her fragile body. She clenched hard onto her stomach trying to ease the pain.

"NO don't you dare touch her!" Lana screamed in response.

"If your little friend over here doesn't stop kicking she wont have her head on her neck for very long," the third man replied. Nina swallowed her saliva in fear.

"Nina, please stop kicking. I can't lose you ok?" Nina stopped kicking when she heard Lana's voice. For the rest of the walk Nina was sitting inside a rough pointy bag, praying to stay alive whilst her whole body was shaking. She knew they weren't going to survive this.
