Detroit ⇄ 4:31 PM.
"Mason!" I yelled soon as I walked in the bathroom seeing him putting his toothbrush in the toilet then in his mouth.
"I- da why you yell?" He jumped and dropped the tooth brush.
"You licking piss and shit." I grabbed him , he was soaked in water.
"I not lick shit." He frowned looking at me.
"Take them clothes off." I sat him down and went to his closet.
"I not take dis off?" He pointed to his diaper.
I turned around, "Keep it on." and he left out the room.
I laid his clothes out on his bed before going to the bathroom to run the water .
He came in and handed me my phone, "Say wanna talk to you."
"You always doing shit you ain't got no business doing." I grabbed my phone. "Hello?"
"Don't talk to him like that." She frowned. "What you doing?"
"Finna give his bad ass a bath, ima bring him tomorrow."
"Where you work?"
"Don't worry bout it."
"You look like you work at McDonald's."
"You must like getting hung up on?" I looked at her. "Get ina tub Mason." I told him and he took off his diaper.
"I don't, working at McDonald's ain't bad."
"I'm a grown man, Ian working at no damn McDonald's."
"Well, where you work?"
"Mind yours, what you want? Why you calling me?"
"I called to tell you the daycare closed tomorrow."
"The day I need somebody to watch him, wow."
"One of the kids caught covid sooo we gotta clean and stuff."
"When?"
"We found out today, don't know how long he been having it."
"If he got that shit, I'm dropping him off to you." I looked at Mason.
"Da I not got it." He mugged me. "You got it."
"Ima call you back when I get him out the tub, finna beat his ass."
"Okay." She chuckled before hanging up.
"Hand me that soap." I pointed and he gave it to me.
I washed him up before getting him out wrapping him in his towel .
