𝐉𝐔𝐍𝐏𝐄𝐈 𝒑𝒂𝒓𝒕.1 ༄ ᵉᵖ.10.1

"I wonder if the first person to say "the opposite of fondness is indifference" went to hell like they should have. It's just not possible that interacting maliciously with others could be more proper than leaving them alone. "The opposite of fondness is hate." Japanese people love that. They like to gloat over complicating a simple answer." Said junpei wondering over things with asking mahito who stared at him.

"The man who coined that phrase wasn't japanese." Asked mahito

"Im talking about the mistaken translation." Junpei clarified as mahuto hummed a sign of wonder.
"The original phrase was spoken by some foreigner, was "the opposite of love and indifference," right? There are various definitions of "love," so "indifference" works as an antonym there."

"That's true." Mahito agreed at junpei's words

"But we generally don't use "love" very much, right? That's why, in this country, it got changed to "fondness" at some point."
Mahito began walking away, so junpei stood up from the ground and followed him while saying.
"That version spread without any thought as to wether the opposing definitions of "love" and indifference" still held true."

"Everyone likes a little wordplay. After all, humans can't live without making up excuses." Mahito and junpei arrived infront of a huge cursed spirit.

"What's this?" Asked junpei as he and mahito gazed up to the huge cursed spirit.

"An experiment to see just how large i can make a single human. On that one, i tried go see how small i would make one." Junpai looked at the small cursed spirit on his hands.

"This is... a human?" Junpei was just staring at the human turned into a curse.

"Are you used to corpses, junpei?" Asked mahito

"I don't know." Junpei held the human curse towards mahito. "It was my mother, i might lose control and i end up hating you. But I already know how repulsive humans can be. That's why I don't expect anything from other people, nor do i think much of it when someone I don't know dies. Indifference us the virtue people ought to strive for." Junpei poured his opinion out to mahito.

"And despite that, you want revenge." Stated mahito.

"Are you trying to say that's contradictory?" Junpei asked mahito.

"Do you believe people have hearts?" Asked mahito with a slight hint of a smile on his face.

"Huh? Do they not?" Junpei was confused and quite shocked at what mahito said.

"They don't" mahito said without any hesitation on his voice. "They have souls. But souls aren't hearts." Explained mahito

"Then what about my-" Junpei couldn't finish his words.

"I'm the only person in this world who understands the composition of souls. After all, i change the shape of other creatures by making contact with them.

All emotions are the result of the soul's metabolism. They're far too mechanical to call hearts. People place too much value on things they can't see. I can see them, and souls are no more special than physical bodies. They're just there.

Do you get it? There's no value or importance to life. Life just continues its cycle, sane as the waters of the world. That's true for both you and me. Our lives are meaningless and have no value." Mahito explained thoroughly his thoughts to junpei. (Wonder if junpei was having an existential crisis-)

"that's why we can do anything we want. We're free to live our lives however we please. You can let yourself get trapped in an ideal of indifference. There's no need for consistency in how you live your life. Just as you eat when you get hungry, you can kill someone if you hate them. I'll sanction you fully." Mahito hinted some words to junpei however junpei turned a blind eye to those words and continued thinking of what mahito said.

Junpei was walking, he was looking at his hands with a smile on his face, completely not aware of the 3 pairs of eyes trained towards him.

"There he is." Ijichi pointed towards junpei while driving. Yuuji was sitting on the back together with y/n.

"Huh? Casual clothes?" Asked y/n while tilting her head cutely. Yuuji found y/n endearing so he rubbed her head affectionately. Luckily gojo was not here to stop him.

"It looks like he hasn't attended school for some time." Ijichi answered y/n's question while focusing on the highway

"The same could be said for me, though" stated yuuji. "So are the others doing well y/n?" Yuuji asked y/n.

Meanwhile...nobara was being thrown to the air by panda again with toge ready to catch nobara. "Tuna, tuna!"

"Yeah...they're doing well yuuji." Y/n's words made yuuji smile in relief.

"So what do we do?" Questioned yuuji towards ijichi.

They watched junpei as ijichi stated their plans. "We'll get out of the car here." Ijichi, yuuji and y/n went outside of the car.

"This feels like me and y/n-chan are doing wll the work, and i'm really not into it." Yuuji complained but y/n comforted him to which he was thankful of.
