~44. The Opal Dagger~

~Eva's POV~

Damon let out a long-suffering sigh.

"Tell me again, why is the disco ball here with us?" He asked looking at Edward with a stink eye.

"Even I am wondering it. I do not know how Eva handles his condescending ass." Edward snipped back not backing down.

"Oh, Damon is a condescending ass only to the rest of the world, not to Eva. He practically melts, all putty in her hands." Rebekah quickly added in earning a laugh from everyone.

I could only sigh at their bickering. It had been like this since yesterday.

Yesterday after Finn informed us that he would be joining us Edward too arrived outside our house saying he too wanted to help. That since his mate was from our home he would help us and would also come with us back home.

Apparently, he'd already said his goodbyes to the Cullens.

It seems due to our arrival nothing had built up between Bella and him, when I asked he looked at me blankly before saying that it was all about the smell of her blood and nothing else. All the man thinks about is meeting his mate.

At that, I could only look at him sympathetically.

I was not sure how Katherine would even react to Edward. The woman had been running for five hundred years and I know that it would take more than meeting her mate for her to settle down.

But we'd welcomed him anyway.

So now after a long 10 hours flight and a full night of rest, we were on our way to the Volturi castle.

Niklaus and Elijah with Finn had scored the place discreetly yesterday night as soon as arriving. They had been full of pumped-up energy and did not want anything to go wrong.

As the Cullens explained they'd found the guards and had identified the ones that needed the most attention.

But I was not that worried, for the Volturi mostly depended on their powers than physical fighting. And with me here that part was absolutely covered. It would be an easy win for us.

I just had to cloak them properly so they would not be harmed then Rebekah, I and Caroline would venture into the castle while the boys distract the others.

"Are you all ready?" I questioned in a whisper and receiving nods I looked to Edward, who was standing in the shadows, his upper body bare and only a black cloak covering him.

Originally we planned on barging our way in but then since Edward decided to join I thought of using the tactic he used originally. Gaining the Volturi's attention making them come to us instead of us going to them.

I and the rest of us were away from Edward and Caroline was going to act a try saving him before he could 'expose' himself. Then the rest will play on its own.

"Edward, go," I murmured seeing the clock hand landing on twelve. It was high noon and sunlight lit brightly in the surroundings. And to our advantage, there were a decent amount of people milling about.

Edward slowly stepped forward, removing the buttons of the cloak and as soon as he stepped outside he started shining.

"Caroline."

Then she was on the run.

The girl was a magnificent actress. And her acting was needed in giving the guards watching a good show. Then Kol would get her away, the Voturi would be helpless in finding her, my magic playing in action so that she would be hidden.
