"Ms. Delaney" the female of the three agents spoke as she sat down next to Nicki. "Yes? "Nicki questioned looking over at the agents upturned face. "I wanted to inform you that Mrs. Morrow has refused bail." Said the woman as she leaned in close to Nicki."Thank you for that, but why are you telling me this when you don't work here? "she said ever so bluntly.
The woman paused slightly taken back at the words but given Nicki's blunt nature. Thinking silently as she let her mind remember how brash she seen her treat the outlaw in the next room over. She was not the one to be reckoned with.
Nicki chuckled internally at the action watching the woman as she quickly tried to brush off how the bold statement made her react. You could see the gears turning in her head as she tried to come up with something to say.
The woman crossed her long legs and neatly folder her hands in her lap as she glanced at Nicki. "How exactly do you know that I don't work here?" Said the woman ever so smugly.
Besides the stuck-up bitch look that is written all over your face. Nicki thought as she looked at the woman. "Never had the pleasure to see you around Charming before, obviously Ms....." Nicki trailed on in return.
"Sthal, Agent June Sthal, ATF "the woman said flashing the branded badge that was attached to her belt as she moved her suit jacket. "It's kind of hard to know exactly what's going on when you just got back yourself isn't, Nicki? "Sthal smirked leaning closer into Nicki.
"Or " she paused suddenly taking a moment to think. " Did the Queen in there update you on everything so you can take care of Prince Charming?" She questioned trying to dig in at her.
Nicki was not about to have it and sadly for Sthal this was not a formal questioning. She was free to leave whenever she wanted.
"You can formally address me as Nicole." Rising to her feet she grabbed her purse and placed it over her shoulder.
"Only the people who don't have a stick jammed up their ass can call me Nicki." Sthal's smirk was quickly wiped from her face at that response. Nicki couldn't help but smile down at the pissed off woman.
The agent was flustered to say the least, steam seemed like it should have been billowing out of her ears at that point. Her head now looking like it could explode at any moment. "Now if you'll excuse me, have a nice day Ms. Stail" She said in a polite voice turning on her heal to leave.
With Gemma being locked up and Jax off dealing with club business Nicki decided it was time for a well over do return to see little Able. The boy had been getting so strong as the weeks went by and it would only be a matter of time before he would be coming home. She couldn't wait till she could hold the little one in her arms.
Nicki was ecstatic as she watched his little feet rattle around in his NICU as she read him Corduroy. It was her favorite book that her mother read to her as a kid, and she absent mindedly hoped she could continue to read it to Able for years to come.
Steadily she rocked back and forth in the rocking chair softly reading the book to the little boy. "Lisa sat down with Corduroy on her lap and began to sew a button on his overalls. I like you the way you are she said, but you'll be more comfortable with your shoulder strapped fastened." Nicki spoke repeated the lines in the book.
Leaning over once she was done with the page to show Able the little brown bear sitting in the young girls lap. He might not of been able to see the page exactly threw his little box or understand what it was but that didn't matter to her.
She had a maternal instinct that she couldn't help but naturally give into. She wanted nothing more than for him to see every little piece of it as she turned the pages of the little red book.
Turning the little book over to the next page she continued to read. Her voice soothing him as he sat there cooing moving his body about the little box.
The steady tone of heart monitors beeped in the background of the somewhat quiet room. Nurses funneled in and out checking on him and the other small children that filled the room adding to the noise.
Each nurse smiling to themselves as they listened in on Nicki's story time. Watching as the woman spoke with such enthusiasm as she read aloud to the little baby in front of her. "She's going to be a great mom." Nicki heard one of the nurse's whisper to their colleague.
This made her tear up as she looked over at little Able. Blotting her eyes with a tissue she found in her purse with one hand.
Sure, she wasn't his mom no one could ever take that from Wendy as sorry as she is. It gave her hope that she could be there, be the mom he needed that would take care of him. Jax never pushed her to be involved she just wanted to. She cared for that little boy more than anyone could ever know.
She reached out and stuck her other hand on the box where Able's little fingers touched at. "I love you little man."
Third person POV
Now dimly lit the room was quiet as the footsteps of the nurses became absent for the night. Still curled in the rocking chair sat Nicki the book Goodnight Moon sprawled open across her chest as light snores came from her body.
The shutter of a camera could be heard out in the hallway as it echoed taking pictures of the baby and sleeping woman threw the blinds. The tall grey headed man had been there for hours watching the pair along with keeping an eye out for the good doctor. Slowly he looked around the hallway before slipping into the restricted room.
Edging into the room carefully he made no noise to stir the woman. He noticed how beautiful the black-haired girl was. Her long-curled locks flowed down past her exposed shoulders. The small grey tank top allowed a full view to her tattoos that laced both of her arm.
He moved to close the blinds to give them some privacy in case one of the staff was to come by and see what he was doing.
Kohn squatted to get a better view of the woman as her chest rose and fell from her deep sleep. Slowly he ran his finger up her arms to trace out parts of her tattoos. Goose bumps rose in the areas he touched from the cold feel of his hands.
Reaching down to the camera that was strapped around his neck he tightly gripped it and started taking close up of the woman. The images weren't perfect they did not expose how breath taking she was just like Tara.
He pushed back her hair slightly and placed part of it behind her ear to show more of the frame of her face. Noticing the sculpt of her high cheek bones that were also laced with light freckles, her full eyelashes and how her ruby red lipstick made her lips look so plump and kissable.
Snapping a few more quick pictures before grabbing the blanket that was sitting in the rocking chair on the other side of the room. He unfolded it and lightly placed it over her small body. "He doesn't deserve you either" Kohn spoke kissing her forehead before silently leaving.
