Santana's POV:

I miss Whitney so much. I didn't know her personally, but her songs made me feel like we were best friends. This sucks.

Shawn's POV:

Whitney Houston passed away 2 months ago, and even though it's been that long, we all still miss her a lot. I grew up listening to her, MJ, Beyoncé, Bob Marley, Diana Ross, Aretha Franklin, Frankie Lymon and etc. Since Bob Marley and Frankie Lymon passed away long before I was born, his death didn't hit me. But MJ and now Whitney's are hitting me.

Mercedes and Rachel were arguing about who 'The Bodyguard' was written for. I wasn't really pay attention because I was talking to Santana.

"I can't believe she's gone." I tell Santana.

"I know. It still feels unreal, even though it's been 2 months." She tells me, shaking her head.

"I loved listening to her music growing up. Finn even listened to it too sometimes. She was such a talented person. And also kind and full of so much wisdom and energy. My favorite song of hers was I wanna dance with somebody." I tells Santana looking at her. "What was yours?"

"I will always love you. It's a powerful song that is inspirational. And it reminds me of you." Santana tells me and lightly pinches my cheek and I smile. Our conversation is cut when we hear Mr. Shue speak.

"Actually, Rachel, it was supposed to be Diana Ross—and Steve McQueen, back in the '70s." Mr. Shue confirms.

"Thank you, Mr. Shue." Mercedes says leaning closer to Rachel as she says that.

"I've been doing some research to prepare for this week's lesson." Mr. Shue says and writes Whitney on the board.

"Oh my god! Yes! It's about time we did a Whitney tribute!" Rachel cheered.

"Are we sure that appropriate?" Sam asked. Is he serious?

"You did not just ask that." Mercedes states, baffled he just said that.

"I just mean, didn't Whitney kind of have a lot of problems?" Sam states, voice getting quieter as he talks.

"A tribute to someone isn't to focus on their problems Sam. It focuses on the good of the person and how they change people lives. And everyone has problems, including you Sam." I tell him.

"I agree Shawn. Look, this week isn't about passing judgment on Whitney. It's about celebrating her legacy, honoring her memory, her accomplishments." Mr. Shue states.

"Which I will happily list for you." Kurt starts to get excited.

"But I also want you guys to use her songs to get underneath your own feelings. To express and explore what's really going on with you." Mr. Shue instructs us.

"I don't get it, Mr. Shue. What's really going on with us?" Finn asked. This dope.

"Well, for most of you, these next few weeks will be you last here at McKinley." Mr. Shue says and that makes me realize something. This is my last year with Santana here. "Lots of changes coming up, lots of... saying good-bye. To your friends, to your significant others," When he says that me and Santana look at each other. "To the last four years of your life. For a young person, all that transition can be overwhelming. So it's easier to focus on other things. Like not being able to say good-bye to Whitney Houston." He concluded.
